Second wife, Mrs. Lydia ( Payne ) King, daughter of Chauncey and Sarah Payne, who settled in East Maine in 1837. Dr. Butler devoted himself to his practice in Maine for over fifty years and had a very extensive practice.William M. graduated from Hamilton College in 1870 and the College of Physicians and Surgeon's in New York City in 1873. After nine years experience at the State Homeopathic Assylum for the insane in Middletown, NY and one years study in Europe, he settled in Brooklyn where he enjoyed an extensive practice.
