  • Death Certificates: Available from 1881 to 50 years ago.
  • Marriage Certificates: Available from 1881 to 50 years if both bride and groom deceased.

  • Local: You might also find it easier to the local registrar or town clerk of the place where the birth or death occurred or where the marriage certificate was issued
  • NYS Indexes: Going to be near one of the cities listed below?  If so you can check for microfiched indices for ALL of "public" New York State births, deaths, and marriages.  These can now be searched by the general public saving you expensive searching fees. You can find out ahead of time if the record exists, which town it is in, filing date, volume and page numbers.  All this will to make your trip to the registrar's or town clerk's office a productive on and save you having to pay a fee for a search that produces a "Not Found" result.

Some very  nice XL spreadsheets to help you organize your census information.  Not only forms to duplicate different census forms, but also "Census Trackers" which allow you to organize all the census information on a particular individual.

These sheets are what we used to call "Honorware", they are essentially free, you don't need to pay anything to download and use them.  However, the author does asks for a purely voluntary donation of $10 (via Amazon.com's Honor System) if you are satisfied and use the spreadsheets.
