I'm impressed by the amount of excellent material that is so informative! It has enabled us to find one guy whom we were looking for, and from then were able to put together his family. John D(evine) Shuman is buried there. Near him is his aunt, Jane Montgomery. His mother is listed, however,as Isabella Sherman, wife of Levi B. She is actually Isabelle Shuman, not an uncommon mistake, but we'd love to see it changed. Isabelle was the daughter of Hugh and Jane Montgomery, who are also buried there. The other Shuman boys, Andrew Jackson and Levi, moved to Seneca Falls. Andrew is buried with his family in Restvale Cemetery there. John D. also lived here, but, like his brothers, joined up for the Civil War. Alas, he died in the Hospital at New Berne, N.C.,Jan.29,1865. His wife Angeline does not appear to be buried with him. Keep up the good work~ Joni Pontius |
