I'm impressed by the amount of excellent material that is so informative! It has enabled us to find one guy whom we were looking for, and from then were able to put together his family. John D(evine) Shuman is buried there. Near him is his aunt, Jane Montgomery. His mother is listed, however,as Isabella Sherman, wife of Levi B. She is actually Isabelle Shuman, not an uncommon mistake, but we'd love to see it changed. Isabelle was the daughter of Hugh and Jane Montgomery, who are also buried there. The other Shuman boys, Andrew Jackson and Levi, moved to Seneca Falls. Andrew is buried with his family in Restvale Cemetery there. John D. also lived here, but, like his brothers, joined up for the Civil War. Alas, he died in the Hospital at New Berne, N.C.,Jan.29,1865. His wife Angeline does not appear to be buried with him. Sent: Thursday, September 26, 2002 10:55 PM Subject: A correction and a question Dear Bernie, I've just visited the Lakeview Cemetery page of the Cayuga County NYGenWeb site. First, congratulations on a well done site! It must have been an arduous effort to compile all of this material. I would like to call attention to one error and ask that you please correct it. It concerns the listing for Mary St Clair (baby). She is my sister. The year of her birth/death should be 1951, not 1851 as is listed. Also, I'm curious why my mother, Athena St Clair is not listed. She passed in October, 1993 and I know she is buried there near my brother and sister and her Watkins relatives. If you could look into these things for me, I'd appreciate it very much.
