SHADY LAWN is another fine farm in the town, owned by John Heffernan. It comprises seventy-eight acres, on Lot 34, on the Aurora road, and within sixteen miles of Auburn. The location is one of the best, having a commanding view of ten miles of Cayuga Lake. Attention is given to general farming and the raising of hay and grain. The water supply is sufficient for all the needs of the farm. The place derives its name from the number of shade trees on the lawn, which add to the attractiveness of the home. It was formerly owned by Joshua Baldwin and was inherited from his estate by his children and grandchildren and from them to the present owner in 1900. The farm is in an excellent state of cultivation and the buildings in good repair.
