| CRYSTAL SPRING FARM, numbers one
hundred and seventeen acres, situated on the Sherwood and Aurora road within
fifteen miles of Auburn. This is among the fine farms of Ledyard, devoted
to the raising of grain and hay and a variety of small fruits. There are
four acres of an apple orchard. This farm has a record for raising the best
wheat and barley in the county. Water is supplied from never-failing springs
and is sufficient for all the needs of the farm. The previous owner was
Benjamin B. Battey, who sold to the present owner, William
Marshall, in 1901. Mr. Marshall is a native of Scotland, and was
born in 1858, emigrating to America in 1878, taking up his residence in the
State of Maine, where he remained for one year. He married Miss Agnes
Mitchell, also of Scotland, in 1886. Their family consists of eight children,
five daughters and three sons, all living. |
