MAPLE GROVE. This farm consists of two hundred and thirty-eight acres, located on the Indian Field and Town Line road, six miles from Aurora, nine from Moravia and twelve miles from Auburn. Mr. J. Hodson is its owner, whose address is Aurora, New York, R. F. D. It may be considered a stock and dairy farm, although its soil is adapted to the raising of all products common to this section of the State. Its dairy products are taken to the skimming station at Venice Center, one and one-half miles southeast. Joseph Pancoast is the earliest settler or owner whose name is given, from him the title passed to Peter Hodson, who resided on the farm until his death, in 1895, when it came into possession of his son, the present owner, who was born on the farm in 1859. He married Miss Frances Williamson, of Jefferson County, New York in 1878. She died in 1890. Their family consists of two sons, one residing in Moravia, New York, and the other in Chicago, Illinois. This is a large farm and considered one of the best in the County. It has an apple orchard of six acres and an abundance of other fruit. Its location gives an eastern exposure, with a gentle slope to the Big Salmon Creek, offering a picturesque view of hill and valley. Mr. Hodson ranks as one of the enterprising farmers of his town. His farm is well-improved and adorned with good buildings, which are supplied with running water, and nearly every field has its spring or brooklet. The timber consists of forty acres of mixed growth. The name is derived from a row of maples extending along the east side of the farm.
