| EVERGREEN LAWN is owned by Arthur
Leader. Postoffice address, Poplar Ridge. Consists of ninety acres, located
on the State Road from Moravia to Aurora. Aurora six miles, Moravia nine,
and Auburn fifteen miles distant. The location is delightful, being surrounded
by evergreens from which this farm derives its name. Hay, grain and dairying
are its principal products, milk from its dairy is conveyed to the Poplar
Ridge Elgin Creamery near by. John P. Chase, the first owner given
in this record, sold to William Hawley, from him to Mr. Leader, who
is a native of Cayuga County, born in 1876, was married to Miss Estella
P. Kendall in 1892, their family consists of one daughter. In addition
to the usual farm products as herein mentioned, there is an abundance of
fruit grown consisting of apples (of which there is an orchard of two acres),
plums, pears, cherries and small fruits. Mr. Leader is one of the young farmers
of this town and takes pride in his farm, he is quick to provide the latest
machinery or whatever will be of advantage to his farming operations. The
buildings are provided with pure well water, and there are seven acres of
hardwood timber. |
