The Old Brutus Historical Society (OBHS) is a volunteer run, not for profit Society dedicated to preserving the local history of the Town of Brutus and the Village of Weedsport, NY. The Town of Brutus is part of the Military Tract of central New York, located about twenty miles west of Syracuse, NY and eight miles north of Auburn, NY. It is located just off Exit 40 of the New York State Thruway, and the crossroads of Routes 31 and 34. The Village of Weedsport is the only village in Brutus. Once an Erie Canal village, Weedsport is a small village of 2000, most of who work in Syracuse and Auburn.
The OBHS is located along the banks of the old Erie Canal, in downtown
Weedsport. Weedsport NY offers many restaurants, and a couple of motels within
walking distance of the Societies museum. |
