This cemetery is located near the southwest corner of Lot 7, 3rd Allotment,
New Petersburg Tract, on property owned by Harold Nye of Oneida who purchased
it from the Griffin family who still farm nearby. According to Tuttle
the farm was formerly known as the Welsh farm. The Griffins told
me the location of the cemetery (it cannot be seen from the road) and that
John Robertson (died c.1996), an attorney in Canastota, is a descendant
of those buried there and had much genealogical and historical material
about the family.
The cemetery, 75 feet square and located on a low knoll 100 feet east of
the south east corner of the lot, is entirely unkept. The ground
is very uneven with dead trees and large limbs lying upon the ground, and
heavy underbrush throughout the site. The stones are fallen and scattered
about, the footstones often being many feet from their original location.
The burials are in rows about ten feet apart with the head to the west.
The Heslin stones are only grave markers with the personal data having
been intended for a monument which was apparently never erected.
A number of unmarked field stones indicate unnamed graves, one an infant,
and several sunken areas also indicate graves, for a total of 8 unnamed
graves.
Two stones were not found in my 1994 survey: Daniel
Robertson and Ida Robertson. One additional stone was found: Averell
D. Hess.

as age 85).

December 5, 1851, age 3 years 16 months 18 days.

30, 1832, age 59 years.
