This cemetery is located on the top of a large round bump of land which slopes away on all sides.  The graves are all oriented with the feet to the east with the headstones facing west at the head of the grave.  The rows are from ten to twelve feet apart and are generally straight.  The grave plots are about 3 x 10 feet with some closer spaced family groupings.  The cemetery is roughly square, except the north side which is angled with the road, and the total area is approximately 21,850 square feet.
The cemetery has been well kept in recent years and some resetting of stones has been done within the past year.  It became obvious that a thorough review of the names of individuals buried here was necessary when it was noted that there were no Wilsons (for whom the cemetery was named) on the old list although there are several Wilson's buried there.  The first four stones I examined were not on the list and the next two had most of the information wrong - the rest were not quite so bad.
Those stones found in 1994 but not on the old list are: Apema Annas, Katie Lounsberry, Sally Lounsberry, Joseph A. Marshall, Lizetta E. Phillips, Horace S. Swift, Betsey Wilson, Edward Wilson, Thomas Wilson.  Those not found in 1994 are: Selestia W. Barber, Charlotte Hicks, Joshua Hicks, Willie H. Moochler, and Elizabeth Munger (2).  Three footstones, "S.F.B.""C.S.H." "P.R.", have initials that are not accounted for by known tombstones.  Footstones, removed from their original places , are "planted" about the cemetery giving the appearance of marked graves where there really are none.
In the Perryville Cemetery the stones of Jane M. Keller (died 1924) and John S. Keeler (died 1909) state that they were buried in the Wilson Cemetery, but there are no stones for them here.
The old Gallup list has the dates and age of Peter Phillips as died June 20, 1844, age 68 years, but these are incorrect - whose dates are they?
