The Wyss cemetery is one of the few  exceptions to the pattern.  It is an old cemetery, the  oldest known burial here dated 1827, and it is  unusual in that the graves are not aligned with the  heads to the west.  I this case the graves are  parallel with the road that runs at a bearing of  North 65  East, the heads to the south and the stones facing south, so that at least the body is  almost aligned with the head to the west.
        The cemetery looks well kept but it has  been much abused in the past.  Many of the stones  had been vandalised and have been repaired and  the repairs have been such that some of the data  has been covered by large gobs of mortar.  In one  case, the stone of Prudence Latimer, is so  incompetently "restored" that not only is a large  section covered by successive layers of mortar, but  one section of the stone is placed in upside down and backwards!
        The cemetery is 150 feet square being bounded on the northwest by Wyss Road and on the southwest by an abandoned road which once ran toward Nelson.
        The old list of the cemetery had been made in 1948 by Clezzie Gallup and only four stones from her list were not found in 1994: Cyrus Doolittle, Oscar Doolittle, Seymour Judd, and William C. Smith.  I located 37 additional stones in 1994: John F. Bennett, Maude Bennett (?), Claude L. Billings, Daisey P. Billings, Lemuel S. Billings, Adelbert E.U. Blowers, Maria S.M. Blowers, Merchant B. Bumpus, William Bumpus, Elizabeth R. Doolittle (2), Francis Doolittle Jr., Isaac Doolittle, Charles Gillson, Ellen C. Gordon, Henry L. Gordon, Rosetta M. Hutchinson, Clara L. Hyatt, Ellen L. Jewett Hyatt, Frank W. Hyatt, John Hyatt, Mary Hyatt, Eddy Jewett, Flora R. Jewett, Wallace E. Jewett, Blanche M. Judd, Edward M. Judd, Leon E. Judd, John F. Knox, Susan Laird, Rebecca M. Lombard, Wesley M. Pangborn, Isaac Pierson, Beatrice B. Roberts, Henry M. Roberts, Betsey Putney Taylor, and William Taylor.  Of these 37 additional names only 6 are burials made since the old list was compiled.  Seven others of this list may not be buried here (have incomplete data on the stones): Henry M. Bennett, Ellen L. Jewett Hyatt, John Hyatt, Edmond Jewett, Leon E. Judd, Rozeltha M. Ritter Taylor, and Thomas S.O. Taylor.
        A number of footstones are found on the southern edge of the cemetery and in checking these I found three stones that could not be accounted for in the existing collection of headstones: "F.L.D." (Federal L. Dana?), "L.S.H." (is not Lovina S. Hutchinson), and "S.M."
        The base of a small monument between the graves of Betsey Taylor and Sophia Gordon also indicates that other unmarked graves are present and that other stones are missing.
