This is one of the more common
of the historic maps of Madison County - one or more being found in any
good local history collection. This wall map, a portion of which
is presented here, it is wonderfully detailed, showing land divisions (tracts
and lots), houses, mills, cemeteries, roads, and a great variety of geographical
features. Because of its incredible detail there are many minor errors.
The North Half of the Town of Cazenovia includes all or part of several
different Tracts:
-
Mile Strip (MS) (Lots 16, 17,
18, 19, and 21 along top of the map and Lots 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, and 27
in the next tier) (Lots 28 ad 29 are in the Town of Fenner)
-
3rd Allotment New Petersburg (NP3)
(Lots 36, 43, and 50 [as well as very small portion of Lot 29 at Bingley]
lie within the Town of Cazenovia, the rest are in the Town of Fenner)
-
4th Allotment New Petersburg (NP4)
(Lots 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, and 11 are all or partially in the Town of
Fenner)
-
Road Township Reservation (RTR)
(this tract lies along the bottom of the map and is below the seam line
which runs through the center of the Village of Cazenovia).
