KINPHENGER (Kniphuysen, Kniphamen), Franklin E., Clymer, CC-37
Frank Evert KNIPHUISEN was born in 1843 (I don't know the month and day) in
Zoutkamp, Groningen, The Netherlands, son of Evert Freerks Kniphuisen and
Annegien (Anna) Pieters van Dyke. In 1848 the family left Zoutkamp to come
to America. They sailed from Amsterdam on the ship "Katherine Jackson,"
which reached port in New York City 17 May 1848. They traveled across NYS
with a group of Hollanders who went on to Michigan, while the Kniphuisens
came from Buffalo to Clymer.
Frank's father died in Clymer in 1851; Frank's mother remarried with a
NIJENJUIS and moved with him and her children to Sheboygan, WI. In 1855,
just before she died, she urged her children to return to Clymer. The five
children, ranging in age from five to fourteen came back to Clymer and each
child found a home with a Clymer family.
In the Civil War, Frank was with Co. D of the 112th Regt. NY Volunteers and
was discharged for disability, at hospital, 22 November 1863. After the war
he moved west. On 12 October 1869, in Livingston, Davies County, MO, he
married Amanda Melvina DAVIS. They were the parents of three: Edmund M.,
b. 20 August 1873; Orpha F., b.10 May 1876; Robert Nicolas, b.13 November
1883. Frank's second marriage, 12 April 1886 in Leadville, CO, was to Emma
J.Strathman. Frank died in Leadville COLORADO on 12 June 1907. At some
time in his life Frank changed his name from Kniphuisen to KNIPHAUSEN.

made up of men who lived in the various towns of County.

However, Ira caught typhoid fever almost as soon as the regiment arrived in
Virginia, and Ira died a few days later when he leaped from a second story
