"Asa enlisted October 4, 1861, at Brockets Bridge (Dolgeville). He was in
the battle of Second Bull Run, was taken prisoner with 32 others, and was
kept for five days without food, then sent back to the Union lines near
Fairfax courthouse. He was also in the skirmishes of Rappahann Station,
Thunerfair Gap, Seader Mountain, Culpeper, Virginia. He was hospitalized in
June and July 1862 with dispepsy, and again in November 29th, until
discharged February 23, 1863, with varicose veins."

* The 97th, called the Conkling Rifles, was recruited in Oneida and Herkimer
counties and mustered into the U. S. service at Boonville, Feb. 19, 1862,
for a three years' term. It left for Washington on March 12; was quartered
at Fort Corcoran as part of Gen. Wadsworth's command until May, when it was
assigned to the 2nd brigade, 2nd division, Department of the Rappahannock
and moved into Virginia, where it occupied various posts in the neighborhood
of the Rappahannock river; was engaged at Cedar mountain, and lost 111 in
killed, wounded and missing in the
Manassas campaign.

He was born the 26th day of March 1824 and always lived on the same farm
where he was born, married and died.
He was married to Miss Abigail JACKSON of Westfield who survives him;
Mrs. LEACH dies;
Mrs. Abigail LEACH died at her home near this place on Monday Morning, march
2, aged 77 years. Her husband Zebulon LEACH died last December.

The Lebarron boys enlisted in 1865 which was the year the War ended;
the The 90th fought at the Opequan, Fisher's hill and Cedar creek,
losing 73 in killed, wounded and missing in the last named
engagement. The original members not reenlisted were mustered
out during Dec. 1864, and the regiment was consolidated into a
battalion of six companies, which received in June, 1865, the
members of the 114th, 116th and 133d N. Y. infantry.
The regiment served in the 1st brigade of Dwight's division at
Washington from April to June, 1865, and at Savannah, Ga., from
June to July. It was then ordered to Hawkinsville, Ga., for a
time and concluded its term of service at Savannah, where it was
mustered out on Feb. 9, 1866. It lost 60 by death from wounds
and 190 from other causes.
