father.
1851 At the age of 17, Rodney learned the carpenter and joiner's trade, and
did this for 1.5 years in Jamestown, NY.
1853 He migrated to Dubuque, Iowa. He then engaged in contracting which took
him to Memphis, TN, Cairo, IL and other cities in the central states.
1860 census p. 558 Kiantone, NY
25 Aug. 1862 enlisted as private in Company L of the 112th New York
Volunteer Infantry in Jamestown, NY; and as corporal in Kiantone, NY 1st
battalion NY sharp shooters. He attained the rank of corporal. He saw
service in:
Battle of Blackwater
Siege of Suffolk, VA - near Richmond, under Gen. Getty.
Yorktown, VA
Washington, D.C.
Frederick, MD
He then joined the Army of the Potomac at Berlin, MD
Then transferred to the first brigade of the First Army Corps of the
Division.
August 19, 1864 he was taken prisoner and confined in Libby Prison, Belle
Isle and Sealsburg. At Goldsboro, NC he was paroled.
June 7, 1865 at Elmira, NY he was honorably discharged.
When peace was declared, he returned to NY and worked at his trade until
1870.
1870 census for Adams Co., WI where he bought a farm and engaged in
agriculture until....
1874 moved to Olmsted Co., MN where he returned to carpentry in Salem Twp.
1880 census for Salem - farmer
He moved to Rochester, MN and purchased 230 acres in two farms located on
sections 10 & 15.
He retired from farming in 1905. His son, Homer took over the farming
duties.
1930 census for Los Angeles - 1748 Erie - $5,500
He gave his children every educational advantage possible. His youngest
daughter, Myra, was among the first five in her class of 150 from Winona
Normal School to graduate with excellence in math.
He was a staunch Democrat in politics and a member of the Universalist
Church. Mr. Pease served his country in all enterprises and is highly
respected by his countrymen. He had a reputation of being one of the best
buttermakers in the country. He made by hand 2 tons of butter in 1889.

Peck enlisted on September 28, 1861 at Harmony NY at age 17, although the
muster roll lists him as 19. He fought in the battle of Gettysburg as a
private, and was wounded in action on June 8, 1864. He was appointed
Corporal to date to June 24, 1863. Peck was discharged due to disability on
August 31, 1864 at Alexandria VA. He was born in 1844 and died in 1928.

Pvt. Corydon J. Phillips, Co. F, 9th New York Cavalry
Phillips, of Sugar Grove, enlisted August 5, 1862 at Busti NY. He was
wounded at Deep Bottom VA on July 28, 1864. Phillips was discharged due to
disability on February 6, 1865 at Washington DC. He served at the battle of
Gettysburg, and was one of the four men on picket post with Corporal Alpheus
Hodges when the latter claimed to have fired the first shot of the battle
early on the morning of July 1. Born in 1840, Phillips died in 1901, and
became a well-known physician in Jamestown after the war.

D. commanded by Capt. Wm. O. Stevens in 72 Reg't at David's Island, NY
harbor on or about May 26, 1864. While on duty he received a gun shot
wound - a service ball passed through his right shoulder and upper part of
the right lobe of his lungs, at Battle of Gettysburg. This wound left his
right arm partially paralyzed and his right lung permanently diseased. He
spent some time in Libby Prison and was exchanged for a southern soldier.
Buried in Plainview, Tex.

Landing, Va. Enlisted in war on Aug. 23, 1862 at the age of 34. He mustered
into service on Sept. 12, 1862, Jamestown, as a Pvt. in the 1st.
N.Y. Sharpshooters, 7th Co., under Capt. Joseph Arnold. He was wounded in the
right shoulder while on duty near Coal Harbor on June 4, 1864. His officer,
Capt. Perry Clinton was present at the time and saw the wound. He was
carried to the field hospital, from there moved to White Horse Landing, Va.,
