Early settlers in the Town of Coventry taken from "1874 History of Chenango & Madison Counties, NY" by James H Smith; pub. 1880. Tried to use year, where stated, person and where they were from.
COVENTRY was formed from Greene Feb. 7, 1806 and derives its name from Coventry, in Conn., from whence most of the settlers came.. Parts of Greene and Oxford were annexed in 1843.
