BROOKS - SLATER

Diane Lyon Sun Jan 3 20:07:07 1999
I am searching for any info on Luke BROOKS m. Julia SLATER. So far I have found nothing. The family story is that they were Native Americans. I found a web page that listed a Julia SLATER in 1870 in Norwich, NY. No other info was given. I'm hoping someone has this info or can get it for me. There are two BROOKSes in the Pharsalia, Chenango Co. Directory for 1869-1870 as well as two SLATERs. I'm hoping one of the SLATERs listed is Julia's father. Maybe the BROOKS listing is Luke's. The info I do have is that Luke and Julia had a son, Daniel b.1892, Middleburgh, NY. Daniel m. Lois JACKSON of Delaware Co. Luke and Julia's daughter Charlotte(Lottie)m. John WAYMAN in Delaware Co. I have found nothing on their son Alfred. These are the only children that I know of. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Diane

I am still looking for information about Indian Brook road in the Town of Greene. I have heard a story about an old Indian who lived at the bottom of the road and wandered up and down the creek. Supposedly there are caves along the creek bed which to date I still haven't found. Further up the road on land across from a large farm was supposed to be an Indian trading site. Any info would be very much appreciated. Thanks.
