Enos David H

David H Enos

Smyrna, April 8 --- David H Enos, died at the home of his brother, Leonard on Friday, April 4, 1918, after an illness covering a period of several months.
David Henry Enos, one of seven sons of Charles J and Christina Enos was born on March 24, 1839, on the Enos homestead, now owned by Lynn and Avis Campbell, where he resided until he reached the age of 19 when he struck out to seek a home for himself. At the age of 28 he was united in marriage to Miss Gratie Welch of Edmeston with whom he lived happily at that place for shortly more than a year, when she passed to that better land and he has since lived alone, true to her memory. For many years he followed the carpenter business in the vicinity of Utica and Waterville but for several years past has made his home with his brother, Leonard just south of this village who alone survives him. While here he made many friends who will regret his passing.
The funeral services were held from the Congregational church on Sunday afternoon at two o'clock, Rev. George Lusty, pastor, officiating and the remains placed in the vault at the Sherburne West Hill cemetery, pending burial later at Edmeston beside his wife.
