Early settlers in the Town of Plymouth (#11) of Original Twenty Towns taken from "1874 History of Chenango & Madison Counties, NY" by James H Smith; pub. 1880. Tried to use year, where stated, person and where they were from.
Plymouth was formed from Norwich, April 7, 1806.
about 1794 first settlers were several French families:
John and Modest RAYNOR, brothers. Most moved to Ohio.
Benjamin WALKER of Utica owned land in this locality.
Major Thomas BROOKS, New England States,
Silas HOLMES, formerly Conn, came from Saratoga Co, and
man named BLOWERS

James PURDY, brother to Abner, pioneer settler in No. Norwich, Amenia, Dutchess Co.

John MILLER, German, from locality of Albany; several years later moved to Broome Co

about 1798
