BROWNE, Milton Kenneth
My mother will soon be 70 years old and is in failing health. She would dearly love to find out what became of her natural father and other relatives (possibly half-siblings), before it's too late. My mother's birth name was Lonnell Sue BROWNE; she was born May 22, 1927, in Binghamton, NY, to Phyllis Licene FISKE and Milton Kenneth (M.K.) Browne. A son, Milton Kenneth, Jr., was born in 1929. Phyllis and M.K. divorced in 1930, when my mother was three years old; Phyllis later married Kenneth Rogers Arrow, and had another son, Arthur Ernest, in 1933. Mr. Arrow adopted both my mother and her brother, so they grew up with the last name Arrow.
The only information she has about her natural father is that he was about the same age as her mother, putting his DOB in the 1905-06-07 range. He had at least two brothers, Clifford (who married Emma and had 2-3 children) and Harold; there may have been 2-3 other siblings. Their mother was always referred to as "Ma Browne." As late as 1946-47 M.K. was reportedly still in Binghamton, was possibly a member of one of the benevolent organizations in town (Elks, American Legion, VFW, something like that). But she recalls hearing much later on that he had remarried, moved out of state (to Connecticut, possibly) and had more children with his second wife. She also thinks he may have died in 1955 (I haven't confirmed this yet).
If you can help us piece this puzzle together, please contact me as soon as possible. ANY information would be most gratefully appreciated!

Seeking information about the family of Jehoiakim BURGHARDT/BURGET, Sr. (bp. 1 Jul 1752, Loonenburg, Greene Co., NY), a son of Coenraad BURGAART/BURGET/BURGHARDT and Judick VAN VALKENBURG. Jehoiakim, Sr. and his siblings were b. around Middleburg, NY, which at various times was within the jurisdiction of Albany, Tryon, Montgomery, and ultimately
Schoharie Co., NY. He m. Sarah WHITE (b. 1753, NY; d. Ashtabula Co., OH). ca. 1770 (probably in the vicinity of Schoharie or Middleburgh, NY). According to family lore, Sarah was a Wamponoag Indian- -the tribe of the great chief Massasoit, who befriended the Pilgrims during their first winter after arriving on the Mayflower at Plymouth, MA in 1620. He served in the Albany Co., NY Militia during the Revolutionary War. Three of their six children were b. in the Schoharie/Middleburg, NY area: Conrad BURGET (m. Martha Adelia WHITE); Judith BURGET (m. Josiah DODGE); William BURGET, Sr. (m. Abigail ANDREWS); and Milberry BURGET (m. Sarah ANDREWS). Children Jehoiakim BURGET, Jr. (m. Catherine Anne Sarissa PATTERSON and Katherine DODGE-- both in Ashtabula Co., OH), and Fannie BURGET (m. CLEVELAND) were b. in the village of Kortright to the west of Harpersfield, Delaware Co., NY.
Jehoiakim and Henry BURGET/BURGHARDT are listed in the 1790 and 1800 Federal Census records at the village of Kortright, located just west of Harpersfield, which is now located in Delaware Co., NY. Their location during the Federal Census of 1810 is currently unknown, but the families of Jehoiakim BURGET, Sr. and his sons, William BURGET, Sr. and Milberry BURGET, owned property in Smithville, Chenango Co., NY after 1810. Sister Judith BURGET m. Josiah DODGE ca. 1791, and their second child, Hannah DODGE, was b. 1793 at
German, Chenango Co., NY. She married David BRAINARD, Sr., a veteran of the War of 1812, on May 29, 1812 at German., Chenango Co., NY. Shortly afterward, David BRAINARD, Sr. moved his family to Harpersfield, Ashtabula Co., OH. His father-in-law, Josiah DODGE and his brother-in-law, Jehoiakim BURGET, Jr. migrated to Ashtabula Co., OH at about the same time. The families of two other siblings; William BURGET, Sr. and Milberry BURGET followed them to Ashtabula Co., OH shortly thereafter. Samuel ANDREWS, probably the brother of Abigail and Sarah ANDREWS, who married William BURGET, Sr. and Milberry BURGET, respectively, was also listed as a Head of Household in both the 1790 and 1800 Federal Census at
Kortright, NY. They were the children of John ANDREWS, who migrated from CT to Chenango Co., NY about 1797. His will was dated 12 June 1812 at Smithville, Chenango Co., NY. Jehoiakim, Sr. probably d. in Chenango Co. ca. 1815, but it is believed that Sarah died in Ashtabula Co., OH, where she was presumably bur. on the homestead of her son, Jehoiakim, Jr., near Geneva, OH.

Watson CROUCHER was born in Sherburne, Chenango county in 1823. He grew up in that town. His mother or grandmother was Sarah Croucher. At one time both Sarah and a Thomas CROUCHER (I do not believe this to be the father as he disappears but I could be wrong) belonged to the Temperance League there. Watson entered the Mexican war in OHio. He served in New Mexico and, then, returned briefly to Sherburne. I believe that his mother or grandmother was deceased by then. He had a younger sister. I do not know her name or anything about her except that at one time she visited him in San Antonio, Texas where Watson, eventually, lived and died. His wife was Eliza Ann Rouff (Ruff, Roof) of Butler/Montgomery County, Ohio. Their children were: 2 girls who died in Iowa, Hattie, Katie, Jenny, Frankie (femanle), Maude and Justis Lee. Most of the children were born in Texas. I have been to Sherburne and researched
there and in Norwich but can find nothing that proves who he was. I will be grateful if anyone can help.
