Current Projects
The
Central New York Genealogical Society was formed for the purpose of
preserving and sharing genealogical information and resources.
-
Surname
List Project -- CNYGS members have submitted names (usually
with locations) of the family lines they are researching, in order to
let others know whether they share similar research interests. Please
note that the contributors' names and addresses are only available to
members of the CNYGS, for privacy reasons.
-
Web-Site Project
-- this site could become even more valuable to researchers with more
information available. We would like your suggestions and thoughts as
to how it might be improved, whether by Links to other useful
mega-sites, or with particular types of content. Please send us a
note, by clicking on the "Feedback"
button.

"County
Packets" Index Project -- We have been re-indexing the
various "County Packets" (see our Publications
page). As each County's Index is completed, we will publish them on
this web-site as a service to our members and the public. Since most
genealogists have an idea in which of the many Counties
we cover their ancestors may have resided, separating this
information by Counties seemed best. If this is successful, we may
combine the many databases into one Master Index at a later time. We
still could use additional volunteers to assist with this project; if
you would like to participate, please contact
us (Thanks!). We would be pleased to train you for this task; we
have been using MS-Excel-97 or Corel Quattro Pro for input.

CNYGS
volunteers abstract records from forty-eight upstate New
York Counties. We could use more volunteers to assist in
abstracting these records, and we will provide the training and
assistance to get you started. Please contact us by clicking on the "Feedback"
button if you are interested in learning more.
