James C. Cooper, of River Edge, Bergen County, N. J., was born at New Milford, N. J., July 3, 1826, and died December 5, 1897. He removed to New York in early youth and became a
In 1861 he removed to River Edge. June 28, 1882, he was commissioned Captain of Company H., 2nd Regiment, N. J. He was road commissioner and committeeman in Palisades Township for several years.
He was a member of the True Reformed Dutch Church of Schraalenburgh and served as deacon and ruling elder for many years. He was much interested in gathering genealogical data in reference to the
