David Schuyler, Mayor 1706-07, was one of the five sons of David Schuyler, brother of Philip Pieterse, who came from Amsterdam. The two brothers were the first of the name in America. David married Catalyn Verplanck, of New Amsterdam, October 13, 1667. His widow was living in 1692, on the south corner of Broadway and Steuben street He had five sons, Pieter, Jacobus, Abraham, David and Myndert, and perhaps daughters.

Mayor David married Elsie, daughter of Herman Rutgers, January 1, 1694, and after her death, he married Elizabeth Marschalk, in New York, May 3, 1719. He had six children by his first wife and one by the last. He held the office of Alderman, Justice and commissioner, besides that of Mayor.
