Johannes Cuyler, was a son of Hendrick Cuyler, who came to Albany as a tailor in 1637. Johannes, his eldest son, was born in 1641. In 1696 he was a freeman in New York City, by occupation a trader. He married Elsie Ten Broeck November 2, 1684, and had twelve children. His house lot was the second south of Steuben on North Pearl street, extending to James.
