Jan Janse Bleecker was Mayor in 1700-01. He emigrated from Messpel, province of Overyssel, in 1658; first as a blacksmith and afterwards as a trader. He was born in 1641, and died November 21, 1742, and was buried in the church. He was Recorder 1696-99; Justice of the Pease in 1697; and Member of Parliament in the Provincial Assembly 1698-1700.

He married Margaret Rutse, daughter of Rutger Jacobsen Van Schoendenwoert, January 2, 1667, and had nine children.
