My g-g-grandfather, Theron HOLLISTER, moved his family from New England to Cheningo in middle 1800s. He was born in Pawlet, Vermont, 4/30/1821. Theron's son Degene is my g-grandfather and Degne's son Newcomb is my grandfather. Newcomb was supposedly born in Cheningo, 4/14/1895, married Leta Frances Ackler 8/3/21 in German Flatts, Herkimer Co. They raised their family in Herkimer Co. I am the son of their daughter, Janet Daisy HOLLISTER, b. 8/17/1928.

The HOLLISTERs of Cortland Co. are most probably all decendants of the progenitor of the HOLLISTER family in America, Lt. John HOLLISTER, who came to this country from England in about 1642. Lt. John's family genealogy can be found in the book "The Hollister Family of America: Lt. John Hollister of Wethersfield, Conn. and his descendants," compiled by Lafayette Wallace Case, Fergus Printing Co., Chicago, 1886. The book is available on microfilm in many libraries and through Family History Centers of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
