"Joseph Darby, one of the earliest settlers of this
town, who built the old brick house and lived in it,
died in this town March 22, 1835, at 62 years old,
member of Homer Baptist Church."

January 18, 1849 in Cortland, New York.

Joseph Jr. co-owned the Chollar & Darby stoneware pot
factory 1839 - 1844, with Thomas D. Chollar.  Thomas D.
Chollar had owned the factory alone from 1832-1837,
then with Lucius Bennett from 1837-1839.   Joseph Darby
Jr. sold his interest in the factory back to Thomas
Chollar in 1844, and Mr. Chollar continued to own it
alone until he sold it to Madison Woodruff in 1849. 
Mr. Woodruff owned the business through its demise in
1885.  (Thomas Chollars first wife Sophie Sumner is
probably a sister to Thomas Darby's first wife Abigail
Sumner Darby.  Thomas Chollars third wife, Susan
Voorheis Burr had a daughter named Bella Burr at the
time of her marriage to Mr. Chollar, and Bella later
married Chester Chauncey Darby, the grandson of Lyman
Darby, Joseph Jr's half-brother.)

On Sept 29th, 1835 it was noted that Joseph Darby Jr. &
Selina Kinney, dau of Chester, married in this village
on 27th of September, 1835 by Rev Z Freeman

"In Laurel, Maryland, on the 20th Oct, Lydia, wife of
Joseph Darby, aged 50 years and 8 months, Formerly of
Cortland."
