The town of Red Hook at the corner of what is now 199 & Route 9 looking northeast. The large white building is now a deli. Probably taken around the turn of the century.

Henry "Harry" Newton Warner Magill (b. May 6, 1855 d. July 10, 1931). He was a librarian in Pleasant Valley (He may have even started the library there.) This photo was taken June 1879 about a year after his marriage (Jan 3, 1878 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Pleasant Valley, NY) to Jessie Warner Elliott.

Jessie Elliott Warner Magill (b. Aug 2, 1858 d. Dec 16, 1917). She married Harry Magill at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Pleasant Valley, NY. She inherited the house pictured below from her family.

Cyrus E. Wolven (1828-1902), son of William Wolven and Eliza Mooney. Attended the Dutchess County Academy, worked at the Chichester Chair Company for 45 years, and was a charter member of the Goose Neck Engine Company.

Sarah Jane (Roy) Graham. Early "calotype" photo made by Slee Brothers Photography of Poughkeepsie, processed in March of 1853. The calotype process was invented in 1851 and this is a rare and early example. Calotypes quickly began to replace tintypes because they were so much cheaper and durable.
