On December 31, 1862, at age 40, Lorenzo enrolled at Washington, D.C., to serve three years, as Chaplain (officer), 2nd Regiment, U.S. Sharpshooters, U.S. Volunteers. He was wounded at Mine Run, VA on November 30, 1863 and was honorably discharged near Petersburg, VA on February 18, 1865. After the Civil War he was an insurance agent in Troy and Syracuse. He was also a clergyman in the Methodist Episcopal Church. He was living in Troy in 1879. He died near Troy on 9 or 10 April 1882 when he was accidentally wounded while hunting. BRILL, DAY. My line of BRILL in Texas came through my GGG-Grandfather Solomon W. BRILL that was born in Poughkeepsie, NY in 1803 m. Miss DAY. He came to New Orleans as a doctor to help with a sickness in that area. In 1835 he came to Seguin, Texas and lived with Jaun Seguin and was very active with Jack Hays and many others in the war for the Republic of Texas. He and his family are buried in Seguin, Texas in a family graveyard. It is told that he built the casket for the heroes of the Alamo, but it's yet to be proven. His daughter married Nathaniel Fulcher, then their daughter (my G-Grandmother married Robert Stoker ROGERS and that is my line of ROGERS. I would like to know of the major books that contain information on the BRILL family out of Kusel, Germany in 1710 on the Hunter List. I hope that the information of Solomon W.
