THORN, PARLEE. Seeking information about Nicholas THORN b.16 Sep 1783 in Flushing, NY m. Eliza PARLEE and apparently settled in Dutchess Co. for a while. The family eventually moved, I believe, to Skaneateles, NY. There is a Nicholas ThORN listed in the 1820 census for Dutchess County (Poughkeepsie). His grandmother, Hannah HAIGHT, apparently lived in Nine Partners (Milbrook), NY at some time in her life. A relative, Obediah THORN, also lived in Nine Partners and was married to Charity HAIGHT (many references to Obediah Thorn in Dutchess County cenuses, 1800-1820). This couple also eventually moved on to Skaneateles, where Charity died 30 Dec 1849, aged 79. I am looking for connections between these scraps of information, and also about the children of Nicholas Thorn and Eliza Parlee. The family were Quakers or connected with Quakers. TRIPP, Israel and Richard. Seeking contact with anyone researching the surname TRIPP. "The Tripps of Quinte" (compiled by I. Hammar and E.Klein, A. Fanning, editor) lists the descendants of Israel and Richard Tripp, two brothers from Beekman Township of Dutchess County, NY. It is believed that Israel was b. 1775 and Richard b. 1788, both in Dutchess County. They married DEMILLE sisters and settled in the Bay of Quinte area in Hastings and Prince Edward Counties, Ontario, Canada. Proof is lacking for the name of the father of Richard and Israel (who is believed to be John Tripp) but vindication is expected as Frank Doherty proceeds with his Settlers of Beekman Town.
