DAR Membership/Eligibility Requirements

The Enoch Crosby Chapter of the DAR wishes you a warm welcome.  If you are considering becoming a member, here are some helpful guidelines.

Membership/Eligibility
Any woman is eligible for membership who is no less that eighteen years of age and shall prove lineal, blood line descent from an ancestor who aided in achieving American independence.  She must provide documentation for each statement of birth, marriage and death.  Admission to membership in the National Society DAR is either by invitation through a chapter or as a Member-At-Large.

Acceptable Service
The National Society reserves the right to determine the acceptability of all service and proof thereof as follows:
1. Signers of the Declaration of Independence
2. Signers of the Constitution of the United States
3. Military service in all branches
4. Civil service and patriotic service

For a more detailed description of eligibility requirements, follow this link to NSDAR eligibility requirements on the National Society webpage.

If you think you may have a qualifying ancestor, you may go to the DAR Genealogical Research System to see if your ancestor is already on the NSDAR Patriot Index.

Members of the Enoch Crosby Chapter are always available to help you with your research.  If you would like to join us for a chapter meeting or would like more information about DAR or our chapter, please contact Fran Braley, Chapter Regent.  She would love to hear from you.
