A New Book From The Enoch
Crosby Chapter
Gravestones of Revolutionary War Patriots in
Putnam County, NY
|

|
Each year more of the gravestones
of Revolutionary War veterans buried in Putnam County become unreadable. In
an effort to preserve these stones for future generations of Americans, the
Enoch Crosby Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American
Revolution has completed a project to locate and digitally photograph as
many of these gravesites as possible.
The book contains color
photographs of the gravestones of proven and suspected Revolutionary War
patriots buried in Putnam County, NY. Of the 403 patriots listed, 325 have
been found and photographed. Those with proven service have been marked with
a star. The description of each stone includes name, birth and death dates,
spouse's names and DAR number.
All 52 cemeteries that contain
Revolutionary War patriots are included. The work is sorted by cemetery name
for each town and includes an index.
This work is dedicated to all the
Revolutionary War Patriots buried in Putnam County whose dedication to
American principles contributed so much to the founding of our great
country.
