ST. ELIZABETH'S CATHOLIC CEMETERY
ELIZABETHTOWN, NY
St. Elizabeth's Catholic Cemetery is located behind St. Elizabeth's
Church on Route 9 (south end) in the village of Elizabethtown, NY.
This cemetery is relatively new compared to most of the other local
cemeteries in the area with the earliest death noted in 1933.
Interestingly, all memorial stones are the same size and flat to in the
ground. Obviously all flowers must be set on the memorial stones
and not on the grass.
Though there are currently 39 Veterans buried in this cemetery,
it is noted that there are only two American Legion markers and flags
present at the time of this writing. A list of the Veterans is included
with this information.
There are about 275 memorial stones at this writing, so the cemetery
is small enough to locate a particular stone. Thus the listing is done
alphabetically, not by blocks as the larger cemeteries I have gleaned
information from. Although the names are listed alphabetically, I
have indexed all the names including maiden names.
This cemetery information was gathered by this writer in June 2008
and submitted to the Northern New York Tombstone Transcription
Project, Rootsweb at Ancestery.com.
Although I have proof read this information several times, I will
apologize for any typographical mistakes that may have occurred.
