The Guyana / British Guiana Genealogical Society

Our world-wide membership is one in which there are no fees and no formal meetings as we are physically separated by thousands of miles!    Members are encouraged to participate in the growing our website content and to keep in touch with one another via our online Forum.   Anyone with an interest in Guyana/British Guiana genealogy is welcome to become a member. We have restructured our website and Society and are resuming taking new members. The only requirement for membership is that you register and participate in our online Forum, by posting at least one message there.

To become a member,

1)   register and then post a message on our online Forum hosted by ProBoard (this too is free!) - There is a "Let's Get Acquainted" section where you could post a message about yourself and/or your Guyana experience or you could choose "Queries and Surnames" to list the surnames of the ancestors/relatives you are seeking... among other topics.

2) If you have any questions regarding membership or registration on the Forum, please contact the webmaster or Asst Webmaster

INSTRUCTIONS for registration in the Forum:    On the menu just below the large header graphic, choose "Register"; fill out the form and submit:   a screen will now display asking for the activation code;  check your email (the address you gave on the registration form) and you will find an email with the activation key code - copy from the email & paste this code into the Forum window - don't click submit yet - right under neath the activation key code window it says "Keep me logged in for" and under that, a window which may say "6 hours". Click the right side of the window and you'll see a menu of other time length options - go to the bottom and choose "Forever".    Now, you will be signed in "forever" (or get a new computer, etc.). To post a message, choose "New Thread" .   Note that when you post a message you can check a box to be notified of any replies!
