Back in the 1800's, before Brooklyn became part of NYC, it was considered part of Long Island. Since so many of our ancestors made their way through Brooklyn, our goal is to seek out and uncover records (books, maps, directories, newspapers, microfilm) that are in libraries or archives on Long Island but have great value for those researching Brooklyn. We are also interested in seeking out some of the lesser known Long Island records that are housed right here on Long Island. If you come across anything that you think would be helpful to others, or useful for this website, please send us an email.

(from July, 1891 thru December 1900)
note: 1897 is missing).
This is the original book put out by the Bklyn Eagle Publishing Dept. This is NOT just a list of marriages & deaths but an
"everything" index. There are numerous categories including - fires, murders,
accidents, drownings, wills, elections, court cases, etc. It is NOT an everyname
index - if John Smith drowned in 1900, you will find him under "drownings" not "Smith".
