CHARLES ORVILLE NICKERSON (Ezra 6, Eliphaz 5, James 4, William 3,2,1) was born Greene Co. NY 4 Feb. 1816, son of Ezra and Anna (Dodge) Nickerson. He died Springdale, AK 14 March 1902. He married first, Virgil, Fulton Co., IL 29 April 1843 to Mary Ann Schofield, born NY, 14 Sept. 1823, daughter of Solomon and Sarah (_____) Schofield. She died Virgil 26 Feb. 1867. He married second, Virgil, Fulton Co., IL, 4 Nov. 1868, Augusta Doolittle, born Broome Co., NY 30 July 1843. Charles went to Fulton Co. 7 Aug. 1837, was a carpenter and farmer, owning 280 acres of land and residing on Section 4. His post office was located at Prairie City. He was a Republican in politics. The Ellisville school, built in 1840, had for it's first teacher, Charles O. Nickerson. He was baptized by his son, Rev. Myron Nickerson, on his death bed, age 86.

Charles O. Nickerson was born Feb. 1816 in Greene County, NY. His father, Ezra N. was born June 16, 1776 and died Dec. 27, 1859; his mother, nee Anna Dodge, was born July 5, 1778 and died Jan. 10, 1850. The subject of our sketch came to Fulton County Aug. 7, 1837 He married his first wife, Mary Ann Scofield in Virgil, Ill. April 29, 1843 who was born in New York Sept. 14, 1823 and died Feb. 16, 1867. His second wife, Augusta Doolittle, was born in Broome County, NY July 20, 1843 and married Nov. 4, 1868. Mr. Nickerson has had six children as follows: Solomon R., Aug. 8, 1844; David H., May 2, 1846; Martha June 5, 1848; Sarah A. Aug. 21, 1851; Harriet L. Jan 8, 1854; Myron E., Feb. 21, 1856.

Mr. Nickerson is a carpenter and farmer, owning 280 acres of land and residing on Sec. 4. In Politic he is a Republican. P.O. Prairie city
