Tuesday February 8, 1876
To day I sawed & split wood on the wood pile & it is a summers day & plesant up to 46 above zero & the wind is in the north & south east & to night it is alittle hairy and to day Father and Joshua F. Halsted went to Catskill to do some traiding carry off some butter and it is mudy on the road so that the Folks goes with the wagons etc.

Wednesday February 9, 1876
To day it is cloudy and looks like astorm and I sawed & split some wood & Father has gone over to Joshuas to get the pain killers fixed and it is warm and the thermometer is up to 36 above zero and this after us on it does snow & to night it snows & hails alittle & it this evening thaws & the ground is white with snow & last evening we spent the eve with Mother alittle while till bed time etc.

Thursday  February 10, 1876
It snowed & rained last night & this morning it is cloudy and north wind & it cleared off plesant about noon & this after noon the sun shines hot & I & Father sawed 2 logs up for the stove & it is up to 32 & 40 above zero and I went over to Joshuas to see how Hellena was & it is mudy on the road & Father & Mother came down here alittle while this evening with us a plesant day

This morning it hails & the south wind to day & rainy & fogy and this morning it was 1 above freezing and to night up to 42 above zero and mudy and warm and to night it does not blow and I did not much to day ownly seen to the chores and helped some in the house & Father went to see how Hellena was and we spent the evening with Father and Mother etc

To day the wind is in the north west and Leas & plesant and a summers day & I and Family etc went up to Wm. A. Howells for avisit & I & William A. went up to the corners to the store and Titus & Family and Mary Millet came up to Fathers and made avisit and it is mudy & up to 44 today & to night it is clear and starlight and it froce the to of the ground last night

To day we stayed at home 7 this afternoon Mother and Father and Mary Millet spent the afternoon with us & took tea too and the wind is in the north west most all of the day & asummers day at 24 and 46 above zero and clear & alittle south wind and to night north west & on much wind today etc

Monday February 14, 1876
It commenced raining in the night some time & it has rained all day & 35 above zero and I and Father fetched in the water to wash and seen to the chores & stayed in the house the rest of the time & to day I fetched in one egg for the first in this year and the ground is bare & clear from snow ownly once in awhile A little spot of snow & ice etc.

Tuesday February 15, 1876
I think that it rained all night and it rained most all day & towards night it hailed & it snowed & covered the ground so that it is white with snow so as to make rack & the wind blows hard from the n. west and the crick is up to the bridge & afreshit, a big one to day it was warm and up to 35 & to night 31 above zero & the the meadows is covered with water & ice & astormy day & dark.

Wednesday February 16, 1876
To day the wind is in the north west and windy and at 32 above zero & to night 28 and I & Father & Joshua fixed the bridge this forenoon the crick was so high that it raised it up it did nor gow off & I cleaned the hens nest out & one hen laid and egg in to it & it makes 2 eggs I have fetched in this year and I split alittle wood and toward night it is squaly & alittle colder etc

To day it is cold & squaly and 7 below freezing & to day 2 below & Father went up to Athens and I went up after him for he had company come Mr. Samuel B. Daniel & wife & Lavina Van Dyck & I & Family took dinner with Father & Mother and the ground is frocen hard and the wind is in the north west & the sun shone alittle & cloudy & squaly etc

Friday February 18, 1876
This morning it is 26 above zero & to day up to 31 and the wind is in the west & the sun shines most of the time & cloudy and squaly and Father and I cut& sawed up some wood for to burn and I sat in the house part of the time& the ground is frozen hard & bear and to night it looks like astorm & today I fetched in one egg & it makes 3 eggs this winter etc.

To day I stayed at home & seen to the chores & Father went to mill with 4 bushels of rye & this afternoon Joshua & Hellen came over to Fathers & I & Family made avisit & took tea with Father & Mother and the wind is in the south and cool and plesant and alittle cloudy towards night etc and up to 30 and 40.

This morning it is 16 below freezing and the north west wind blows hard & it is clear and plesant & I and Family went up to Father Powells & I went down to A.T. Powells after the pictures framed there were 3 for me & one had a picture in it H.L. Jones sent to us and Father & Mother went up to A.L. Powells and I & Family took tea with Father & Mother Powell & Mariah Hallock were there etc.

This morning it is 15 above zero & it is warm and plesant & the wind is in the east and this afternoon it is in the south & haizy & acircle is around the sun to day and this afternoon I went down in the orchard & cut down 2 apple trees & there Father & I sawed up part of one log for wood and split up and to night it is warm and cloudy

It snowed last night & the wind was in the east & the ground is covered with snow & not enough for sleighing and the wind is in the north west and windy and squaly and 28 above zero & today 31 & to night 30 and I fetched in 1 egg to day & it makes 5 new eggs and this after noon I wrote aletter for Mother and helped see the chores etc

Last night it was 29 above zero & this morning it is 9 above & to day 8 & 10 above zero and to night 6 above zero and the wind is in the north west and cold & wind & squaly and I went to Joshuas & to Tituses & this afternoon Titus & Mary Jane Halsted & 2 children & Father & Mother Halsted were here & spent the afternoon with us  & took tea with us & I think it is a cold day

This morning the wind is in the north west and windy & cold and at zer(o) this morning and to day up to 14 and to night 12 above zero and I stayed in the house to day most of the time ownly seen to the chores and some cloudy and cold and to day I brought in one egg and it makes 6 eggs this month  & we stayed home to day etc.

To day the wind is in the N west & cold & plesant & towards night alittle cloudy & this morning 2 above & to day 35 & to night 24 and Father and Mother went down to Tituses Able & Hannah Buttler were there and I went down in the orchard after a jag of wood & I cut part of it up and it was cold this fornoon & it is warmer etc.

Saturday February 26, 1876To day the wind is in the north east & 16 & 23 above zero & aplesant day and I & Father went & carried 2 hams to sharp in the streets & Father went to Coxsackie & put aletter in the office and I took 2 bags of size to mill with 2 bushels in each bag & I empty bag & it makes 4 bushels & I sold 6 lbs of butter at 21 each & I fetched in 2 eggs to day = 9 eggs etc.

To day the wind is in the north east and cold and cloudy and at night it commenced to snow and Father went to the corners to meeting & came back & took dinner with A.T. Powell & Mary Millet came there yesterday and we all stayed home 12 below zero and I went to see Titus to see how he gets along but came right back etc & I fetched 1 egg it makes 10 eggs

Monday February 28, 1876
To day it is astormy day & it snows & hails all day and the wind is in the north and south and I and Aeb fixed the pictures in the frames and I helped fetched in the water to wash with and this morning it was 13 above zero and to day 20 above zero & A stormy day etc and it snows all night and quite astorm.

Tuesday February 29, 1876
To day it is warm & cloudy and squaly & some sun shine and north east & south wind and I and Father sawed log up for to burn and Father went over to Joshuas & stoped to Tituses & he found 1 pound of tea and Israel I and Cathern Halsted came to Fathers & stayed all night and it is up to 36 and I fetched in one egg to day and it makes 11 eggs to day etc.

Wednesday March 1, 1876
This morning it is warm & plesant and cloudy and Israel T. Halsted & Cathren stayed till after dinner & then went home and Able and Hannah Buttler came to Fathers & I and Family took dinner with Father and mother there was nine took dinner & it is up to 32 to day & north wind and squaly towards night and I brought in 3 eggs to day & makes 14

To day the wind is in the north west & cloudy & it is at 30 and 26 to day and I and Joshua drew 13 logs to mill and I and Father drew 1 jag of wood out of the orchard & I went to the Store after the paper and the sun shone part of the time and to night I brought the buck wheat back that Washington Hill sent back for that he borrowed for seede.

This morning it was 11 above zero and to night 23 above and the wind is in the north west and cold & plesant and I & Joshua drew 3 logs to mill and Father helped us load them & William A. Powell and Vina & Henry J. and Tituses girl stayed here and I and Family & J. T. Halsted took dinner with Father and Mother & this evening clear & starlight

Saturday March 4, 1876
This morning it is 12 above zero & this afternoon 43 above and the wind is in the north and south to day & plesant and I and J.T. Halsted drew 2 loads of logs to mill there was 24 logs in all to mill and I drew out 2 logs and the sleighing is about wiped on the high weigh and the sun shone hot and warm & it is aplesant evening & the moon shines bright.

Sunday March 5, 1876
It was warm 8 above zero this morning and to day 50 above zero & north and south wind and warm and plesant day & the snow suns & Father went up to the corners to church and whe had company this afternoon Father & Mother & Joshua and Hellena took tea with us & some goes with sleighs and some goes with wagons and it looks alittle like astorm etc.

To day it is warm and this morning it was 38 above zero & it thawed all night & to day 56 above and I drew out 4 jags of logs and J.T.H. drew out 3 jags of wood & the snow has thawed most all off & the water runned down the hill like A brook & the wind is in the north & to night it is in the north west and plesant and the sun shone bright and warm

To day the wind is in the South & warm & 56 above zero and I and Father went to Jackson Vill & I had 2 shoes set and came back & stoped and I & Family and William A. Powell and Family were there & took dinner with Titus and Mary Jane Halsted and it thawed and it was mudy & the crick is up over the banks and haicy etc

To day it is rainy and it hailed and it is squaly and the wind is in the north west & up to 38 this morning & to day at 31 and 30 above zero and to night the ground begins to freeze up and to day I helped do the chores and I stayed in the house most of the time and I peeled afew apples to stew  & to night it is cold and the moon shines etc.

This morning the wind is in the north west & cold & windy & up to 30 above zero & to night 36 above & I & Father went to Leedes with some Butter & eggs we sold 4 1/2 doz eggs old ones at 20 cents doz. And it frozen hard last night & to day it thawed so that it was mudy and to day some cloudy & some sun shines bright and clear & 1 egg to day

Friday March 10, 1876
This morning it is 25 above zero & to day 36 above and aplesant day cloudy & sun shine & the sun went down to night clear & to day I & Father sawed up 2 logs & split them up & this after noon Father carried Mother over to Wm. Webbers to see Christina & Father stopped & took tea & to night it is clear & plesant and the moon shines clear & plesant & north wind

To day the wind is in the south and cloudy and this morning it was 22 & to day44 above zero and I and Father sawed & split up one log for the stove and it looks like astorm and Father went to the vendue and I did not go any where & it is quite chily and the south wind blows like astorm etc.

Sunday March 12, 1876
To day Father & Mother & J.T.H. & Hellena & Fanny & John & Carry Gerny and Edward & Caroline Powell came here and took dinner with us and we went up to Father Powells & stayed all night & Mother Powell died this morning at 9 oclock and Stephen and Cathren Losee were there and the wind is in the south & cool & mudy and looks like astorm & tonight rainy etc

Monday March 13, 1876
This morning it is rainy and colder & to day snowed alittle & we stayed till after dinner and then came home & Father went up to Jacob Losees to tell Loretta Chaldron know about the funeral tomorrow at 11 oclock A.M. and it is mudy & colder & the wind is in the north west to day and colder the wind came around from the south to the n west

Tuesday March 14, 1876
To day we went to Mother Powells funeral and it is cold and windy & clear & north west wind & up to 12 above zero and we stoped to Father Powells & took dinner and the ground is frozen up hard Stephen and Cathern & Uncle Desias Allen Prentice & Loretta Chaldren & Dennice & Mary Allen were there & stayed till about night & it is a cold night etc.

Wednesday March 15, 1876
This morning it is up to 12 above zero & to day 32 & to night 28 and the wind is in the north west & cold & windy & I helped the women wash & I went over to Joshuas after of apail of soap and I helped do the chores & Father went over to O. Daniels to avendue and Titus went with him & yesterday I brought in 4 eggs and today 2 eggs & in all 31 new eggs etc

To day it is cloudy and cold & this fore noon I and Father sawed and split wood for the stove and it commenced to snow & hail alittle and to night it is raining alittle the ground is alittle white so that it is enough to make atrack and the wind is in the north till noon & then it is the north east & south east & south & 26 & 30 above zero

To day it is warm & this forenoon it snows and it is quite sleighing and up to 50 above zero and the wind is in the south east & to night in the north & colder & I and Family went up to Father Powells and stayed all night there & went to see the Baby to Allens it was born this morning at six oclock I think & I carried apan of apples & milk

To day the wind is in the n west and cold and I came home from Father Powells and A.E.H. and Minnie C. stayed and I and Joshua drew out some wood & Father and Mother went up to Allens to see the baby & took dinner with them and I stayed home to night with Father & Mother & acold night etc

This morning the wind is the north west & cold & windy & 4 above zero & to 20 and clear & cold and I went up to Father Powells & took dinner with him & to night I and A.E.H. & M.C.H. and Sarah L. B. will come home with me & to night it is clear & plesant and cold and I fetched in one egg to night

The wind is the north and this morning the wind is in the south east and cold and cloudy and I cut & sawed & split some wood & I & Father went up in the woods & cut & drew out 2 jags of logs on one lot & the(n) it commenced to snow & it comes from the south east and it is 8 above zero & to day at 22 & I fetched in 5 eggs to night & it makes 51 in all & the  ground is covered with snow etc.

To day the wind is in the north west & warm & last night it snowed & this forenoon it is rainy & 40 above zero & it cleared off this afternoon and I stayed in the most all the forenoon & this afternoon Titus and Mary Jane and 2 children came up to Fathers and I & Family took tea with Mother and the Folks goes with sleighs & quite asnow storm & it is colder tonight

This morning it is 31 above zero & it is cold and squaly & the wind is on the north west & blustering and I and Joshua went with 2 loads f logs to mill & drew out one load out here for to morrow morning and it is sleighing & I fetched in 4 eggs to day and it makes 58 in all this year and Father helped us load up & it is acrust on the snow etc.

This morning it is warm and it spit alittle & to day it is warm & plesant & the sun shines warm & the wind is in the north & south & north west again & I took 1 log to mill & Joshua took 1 & the last ithink & I went up in the woods and cut 1 load of wood & drew it out and Father went to Catskill in acuter and aplesant day & up to 16 & 44 above zero to day

to day the wind is in the north west & in the south a little while and aplesant day & warm & the sun went down clear & it was 26 & 44 to day above zero and I drew out some logs & Joshua & Father cut & he drew out one load of limbs & I cut sawed & split some wood & I drew out 8 drags on one bob & it was asunshiney day & Ive fetched in all 64 eggs this year etc

This morning it is asnowing & astormy day & it hailed alittle & rained towards night & the wind in the south east & to night in the north & to day up to 42 above zero and it snowed about 6 inches I think & I went over to Joshuas and had one boot taped & I helped see to the chores & I helped peel some apples to stew and Father & Mother spent the evening here

To day it is warm & foggy & it thawed all night & up to 36 & today 52 above zero and it is warm and cloudy & the sun shone out alittle while & Sarah L. Powell came home with us aweek agoe to day is here get and we stayed home to day & the snow is agowing off fast etc. & and to night I fetched is 5 eggs and 66 & 5 makes in all 71 eggs this year

To day the wind is in the n west & cloudy & 38 and 42 above zero and I and Father sawed & split some wood & Father and Ann Elzia Halsted went up to Allens alittle while they did not start till about 3 P.M. and some goes in wagons and some in sleighs & it is alittle colder to night & Sarah L. Powell is here with us & I fetched in 3 eggs to night

This morning it is 39 above zero & to day up to 52 and it rained hard last night & the crick is up to the bridge abig freshit and awarm morning & the sun shines hot & today it is cooler and cloudy and the snow has most all gone & I and Father sawed up 2 logs for wood & the wind is in the south & towards night it is in the west & to night the crick is not quite so high etc.

It is 24 above zero & to day 38 & it is cloudy and squaly to day and I & Father & Titus fixed it again the high water rained the bridge up so that it liked to have gone off and this afternoon Joshua P. came over here & helped I and Father saw up 3 logs for the stove & I and Father split up some and the snow has most all gone off etc.

This morning it is 2 below freezing & to day 42 above zero & J.T. Halsted and I & Father went down to the saw mill & drew the logs in to have them sawed and it is mudy on the road & the wind is in the n west & cloudy and some sun shine & I & Father sawed up one log for fire wood and the Folks goes with wagons again etc.

This morning the wind is in the north west & cold & windy and 1 below freezing & to day up to 37 and Father went to the shop for one to have 2 shoes set and I went over to help Joshua T. Halsted saw up some logs for wood& took dinner with him & split some wood & then I saw nine wild ducks gow up and I think it has been acold & windy day & I fetched in 3 eggs to day

This morning it is 25 above zero & to day the wind is in the north west & aplesant and clear day to day & warm and I and A.E.H. went to meeting to the Christian church & Father & Mother went to meeting and we all stoped to Allens & took dinner there & Minnie C. stayed there with Sarah L. Powell & Father took Sarah L. home her stayed 2 weeks here to day etc.

Monday April 3, 1876
This morning it hailed & snowed & rained & it is acloudy day & I piled up some brush this forenoon & this afternoon Father & I went to the sawmill after 15 plank & after we got back it rained & it is arainy night and to day it is up to 39 to day above zero & it is mudy & I fetched in 5 eggs to night and it makes 99 new eggs this year & it is cold and stormy etc.

It rained last night & this morning it rained & it hailed & snowed & rained most all day and it is astormy day and it is 36 and 34 above zero and the crick is up high again and not quite up to the bridge again and the snow has covered the ground again and the wind is in the n west I and A.E. Halsted cleaned out the sut out of the chmbly etc

To day the sun shines & cloudy & north & south wind and we all went to the U church to the funeral of Hannah Butler Mr. Pendal preached the funeral Serman & the ground is covered with snow & the snow is most all gone and we all took dinner with Joshua & at night the crick is up most to the bridge & it is mudy & to night it hails & rains & to day up to 36 and 52 & to night 42 above zero and warm 14 chapter of St. John the text was ??

This morning I & Father & J.T.H. went after aload of plank had on 12 plank on this load & William A. Powell and Family and Father Powell & Elizabeth Rose and Father & Mother Halsted  and Stephen M. Losee and Cathern Losee  & Allen  T. Powell came here & took  dinner with us & went to the vendue and the wind is in the west & aplesant day & 36  & 52 above zero and it frozen in the night & to day mudy & aplesant evening

Friday April 7, 1876
To day I & Father sawed up one log and split up some and Father went to the saw mill after 2 loads of plank one load with 16 plank & one load with 16 plank & one with 15 plank = 31 and 31 and 27 + 58 plank in 4 loads and the wind is in the south east & towards night the wind came around & it rained & hailed & quite ashower and to night the wind blows hard and colder to day 31 and 42 above zero

This morning 2 below freezing & to day up to 42 above zero & to night at 37 and I went with Father to mill after aload of lumber & this after noon he went after another load of plank & 58 and 45 = 103 plank and the wind is in the north west and cold and windy and to night it was squaly and it frozen the ground and it is mudy to day and colder etc

This morning it is 7 below freezing & to day 38 above zero & it is a cool day & the north wind blows hard & clear & to night starlight and I fetched in 11 eggs & we stayed home & this after noon Titus & Mary Jane Halsted & 2 children came here spent the after noon & Father & Mother Halsted took tea with us and I stayed home all day and it frozen the ground again & it thawed avery little

This morning the wind is in the north west and cool & plesant & 2 below freezing & to day up to 50 above zero and I went up in the woods after a jag of wood and I cut some of it up for to burn and Father helped the women fetched in water to wash with and this after noon I & Father & Joshua went to the saw mill after the plank I had on 14 plank & Joshua had on nine & we have 117 planks

To day the wind is in the south and north west and warm and plesant and I set apile of brush afire & burnt some bones and clams shells and Father went to mill this forenoon & to day I & Joshua helped me saw wood for the stove we sawed up 4 logs 3 of oak  & one of beach & this afternoon Father split some wood & Joshua took dinner & tea with me and up to 30 & 58 above zero to day

This morning it is up to 30 & to day 55 above zero & Father went to Catskill & I & Family and Mother went up to Athens & took dinner there and the wind is in the south & north & south again & to day it is haizy & warm & to night is sprinkled alittle and Father carried off some eggs and Butter I sold 10 lbs at 33 cts and he sold 8 lbs and I fetched in 19 eggs to night and it is warm

To day the wind is in the south east & warm & I & Father sawed one log in to & made w logs and carried it to mill & Gage sawed them in to loads & made 16 bords and had 142 bords and at 50 cts per 100 = 71 cts & we gave Joshua half of the bords & he paid for half of the sawing & I had one horse shod & Father had one shod & it is up to 38 & 54 & Lida Hills came here this after noon & towards night it is rainy

To day the wind is in the south and warm & rainy and the thermometer is up to 62 to day and I split some wood & Father helped and this afternoon Father fixed my mastingail & we sawed alittle & this forenoon Father fixed ahelve in  his ax and it rained last night so that it filled the barrel with water & it is cloudy & fogy and I fetched in 17 eggs to day

To day the wind is in the south and north west & up to 52 and I helped Father pile up the plank that was to Titus and Father helped Titus shingle of aday on his wagon house and I cut the bushes along the garden and it is some cloudy and I cut alittle wood and I seen to the work and to night we fetched in 14 eggs & in all 230 etc

This forenoon it is rainy & cloudy & the wind is on the south & north west & this afternoon we all went up on king hill to the funeral of Mr. Abrim Lampman the time at 2 oclock p.m. & he was 44 years old and he died afriday morning ibelieve and to night it is rainy & the thermometer is up to 50 above zero and to night I brought 12 eggs and it is cloudy to night etc.

This morning it is 32 above zero & to day up to 44 and I cleared away some brush along the crick & this after noon I & Father struck dreans& he helped the women this forenoon and I piled up some brush in the orchard this afternoon & it is cloudy & squaly & cool and the wind is in the north and south and I went up to plow & it is to wet & I came back again etc

This morning it was at 32 above zero & it hailed and to day it is cloudy & cold & windy and I burnt one pile of brush in the orchard & one tree sot fire to one pile in the orchard & one tree got afire & I had to cut it down to put it out & I put a lot of water on on the tree to put the fire out and I cleared off some brush along the crick where it flooded up when the freshet washit up etc.

To day it is cold and cloudy and squaly & sun shine and I cleared the brush of off of the meadow & trimed up some for wood and Father and Mother went up to Mary Janes this after noon and the thermometer was up to 35 this morning and to night the wind is in the south and to night the stars shines & it is cloudy and to night I brought in 20 eggs and 303 in all

This morning it was 2 degrees above freezing & to day it is up to 52 above zero and this forenoon it clear & cold & the wind is in the north & I & Father commenced to plow for oats he drove for one and this after noon it is haizy & the wind is in the south and to night it sprinkles and is warmer and Ann Eliza her made some fried  cake and has churned to day 17 eggs etc

To day the wind is in the west and cloudy & windy & last night it rained & thundered & this afternoon it rained alittle & to night the wind blows yet & this morning it was 4 above freezing & to day it was 4 above freezing & to day it was up to 62 & to day I and Father plowed for oats and to night I helped peeled and cut some apples to make pies and to day I found ahens nest with 3 eggs in it & I fetched in 22 eggs to night

It was up to 32 this morning & to day up to 67 & to night 57 above zero and this forenoon I & Father plowed and this afternoon Father plowed alone & I cut bushes along the fence & the wind is in the south till this afternoon and then the wind came around in the north & cloudy and colder and to night I fetched in 20 eggs and in all make 362 eggs and I put the short bob in the hay press etc

To day it is cloudy and north wind & it rained & hailed and the sin shone & J.A. Family went up to Father Powell & Stephen and Cathern Losee & Allen T. Powell and Family and Carry Monroe were there & William A. Powell and Family were there & took dinner with them and this afternoon, there were nine pigs in the pen & it was warm & to night  there were rainbow in the east etc.

To day the wind is in the south and north east and warm & cloudy & some sun shine and Father lowed & I helped the women some about fetching in water & I took Charley over to Joshuas & he set one shoe & then this after noon took the whipple tree to have it fixed and I took one of Joshua & this afternoon I trimed up the shoe make along the fence that was for wood & to day up to 54 etc.

To day the wind is in the north east & cool & cloudy and I sowed 12 bushels of oats & Father dragged to day & I sat the brush pile afire & loded the wood on the wagon & come down with it and this morning Fathers cow had acalf in the night and I helped see to the chores & to night we brought in 26 eggs and it look like astorm and it was up to 50 to day and it is windy day etc 438 eggs etc

It was up to 54 to day and cloudy and cool and the wind is in the north east and this forenoon I finished lowing my oats ground & went down in the meadow after ajag of wood and this afternoon I finished clearing the brush along the crick and then drew up one load of wood that come down the crick & Father went up to meeting monthly meeting and 23 eggs

This morning it was 2 above freezing and the wind is in the the north east & south and to day I and Father finished sowing oats & sowed in al 13 4/32 bushels of oats and 4 qts of peas & drew 4 loads of maneuers and plowed the garden and Joshua and Hellena came to Mothers & I and Family took tea with Father and mother and it is plesant and warm day etc

This forenoon Father furrowed out the garden & he & I planted the potatoes and this afternoon I sat out two onions beds and it rained to day alittle and the wind is in the south and to night the wind came around in the north & plesant & to day it was up to 62 above zero and this afternoon it showery some of the time and to night I brough(t) in 24 eggs 486 to 24 =510

To day the wind blows hard from the north west & it was 20 above freezing & I went over to Joshuas & he brought over 8 hooks and & put 6 on the leech barrel & one or 2 on the old cider barrel this after noon & I helped the women clean the cellar & out some wood & this after noon I helped put the things in the cellar & I filled the leach barrel & Father went after my grist and fetched 200 hoops at 12/ per 100 etc

This forenoon I killed the bugs off my potatoes and this afternoon I picked 16 quarts of cherries & seen to the chores & split some wood & it is hot up to 97 and towards night it sprinkled alittle and Father & Joshua went to Catskill to hold the forth and bought some harness & paid 12 dollars for what he got etc

I helped Joshua now this forenoon & then Father helped me grind up the machine scythe & hand scythe & this after noon Father & I helped him rake & put up the hay & I picked 3 qts of cherries to night & the north east wind blew hard & I shut up ahen & chickens at noon with 11 chickens etc

To day I and Father helped J.T.Y. Halsted draw in 6 loads of hay& then I picked 4 qts of cherries and I fixed the wheel rake redy to rake & the wind in the south & north and up to 80 in the shade and it sprinkled alittle to night etc and 1942 eggs and 1942 divided by 12 = 161 10/12 doz and 22 eggs are guinea eggs etc.

This forenoon I cradled rye & the wind is in the north east & windy & cloudy & Father picked some peas and this afternoon I & Father killed the potatoes bugs & the sun shone hot & up to 92 and 100 at   past 4 P.M. and then I picked 9 qts of cherries & then went & done the chores and to night Loretta Chalendar came here to stay all night etc.

To day I picked 1 pt of walnuts & we all went to meeting to the corner & we stoped to Father Powells after meeting & took dinner there and the wind is in the north and cool and I paid Father Powell for 18 lbs of sugar at 5 cts per pound = 93 cents and to night it is clear and starly & the moon shines clear & bright & up to 47 and 50

To day the wind is in the north & 16 and w6 above zero & warm and it snowed all day & the sun shone alittle and the wind is in the south part of the time & I and Father sawed up w logs for wood & this after noon I split up some wood and Father went to Jackson Vill to get 2 shoes put on george and it is warm and still etc

Wednesday December 27, 1876

To day the wind is in the north and plesant and I threshed oats and Father went to Catskill and it is alittle squaly and haizy and 16 and 22 above zero and to night it is aplesant evening and I spent the evening with Father and Mother and it is alittle warmer to day then it has been etc

Thursday December 28, 1876

This morning it is warm & plesant 16 above zero and I took Mother up to Allens and went up after Ann Eliza and Cathern & went to Allens and Father & Mother & I & Family & Father Powell & Cathern and Elizabeth Rose & Matilda Jansen & Hiram Jones were there & took dinner with them & I took Miss Rose up to Father Powells & then we came home again ples day

Friday December 29, 1876

This morning 22 above zero & I went up in the woods & drew out 1 load of wood & it snowed hard all day and Allen and Family & Hiram Jones and Joshua and Helena and I and Family took dinner with Father and Mother and they went home in the storm & the wind is in the north and abig snow storm and it makes 8 or 9 snows ibelief and the snow begins to flie to night & colder etc

Saturday December 30, 1876

This morning it is 10 below freezing & the snow flies all in heaps & we have to shovel out again this morning and the wind blew the snow all in piles and I stayed in the house part of the time & peeled some apples to stew and helped do the chores the wind is in the north and cold and blustering etc

Sunday December 31, 1876

This morning it is 16 below freezing and the wind is in the north west and the snow flies and I cut and sawed up of aload of wood to day and at night my tooth ached most all night and to night it is 22 above zero and we stayed at home to day and the roads is filled up with snow etc
