Alumni Association
Constitution

ART. 1 - NAME.  The name of this association shall be "The Alumni Association of Greenville Free Academy."

ART. 2 - OBJECT. The object of this association is to further the interests of the school and to foster unity and friendship among its members.

ART. 3 - MEMBERSHIP. Section 1. Every graduate may become a member of this association upon payment of one dollar. Section 2. Persons who attended the Academy prior to the year 1900 for a period of at least three years may be admitted to full membership upon payment of one dollar. Section 3. Members of the Board of Education and members of the faculty are honorary members of this association.

ART. 4 - DUES. Section 1. The annual fee shall be one dollar payable to the Treasurer on or before each annual meeting. Section 2. Names of persons who have not paid their dues for two consecutive years shall be dropped from the list of members.

ART. 5 - OFFICERS. Section 1, The officers shall consist of the President, Vice-President, secretary and Treasurer. Section 2. The duties of the President are to preside at all meetings and to call any special meeting he may deem necessary, to appoint committees and be ex-oficio of the same, and to audit all bills of the association. Section 3. The Vice-President will preside at any meeting in the absence of the President or in the case of the President's leaving the chair to participate in the proceedings. In case the President, for any reason, is unable to attend to his duties the Vice-President shall fill his place until the next annual meeting. Section 4. The Secretary shall keep an accurate classified list of the members with the address of each; shall call the roll of the assembly and take note of those who are absent; shall notify committees of their appointments; shall take down the minutes of the last meeting and of any special meetings which have intervened. Section 5. The Treasurer shall receive all money of the association, shall pay all bills and present a report of the year's receipts and expenditures at the annual meeting.

ART. 6 - MEETINGS. Section 1. The annual meeting shall be held in Commencement week at such time as the Executive Committee shall determine. Section 2. Upon the request f five members the President shall be compelled compelled to call a special meeting. Section 3. Five members shall constitute a quorum.

ART. 7 - ELECTIONS. Section 1. The officers shall be elected at the annual meeting by a majority of the members present. Section 2. The term of office shall be one year and retirement shall be at the annual meeting.  Section 3. The President shall appoint a Nominating Committee to recommend the officers for the ensuing year. Balloting shall be by secret ballot. Other officers may be added when necessary.

ART. 8 - COMMITTEES. A Committee shall be appointed at each annual meeting by the President to provide for the entertainment of the graduating class of the following year.

ART. 9 - AMENDMENTS. Section 1. This Constitution may be amended at any annual meeting by a two-thirds vote of members present, , the proposed amendment having been submitted in writing at a previous regular meeting. Section 2. Amendments may also be made at any regular meeting, without previous notice, by the unanimous vote of the members present.
