PIONEER BRUNET FAMILY

1. JOSEPH BRUNET immigrated from Montreal to Cape Vincent in August 1840.
He was a ship's carpenter. ANTOINE, my grandfather, was born after his
father died in Dec. 1856. He lived for a while with his mother and when
she died in 1861 he lived with his grandmother GOLER. At age 12 he was
in Adams working as a farm laborer on the Kellogg farm. He moved west and
married Helen C. ENWALL, a native of Sweden, in Denver on 10 Sep 1889.
His sister Amelia went west to help raise the children in the Aspen, CO
area and continued to live with the family until she died living with my
father, also Joseph BRUNET, in Gainesville FL in 1932. In the
Cape Vincent days the surname evolved to BRUNETTE and then BURNETTE.

He married in 1841 or 1842

MARY GOLER, daughter of Louis and Mary Goler, who died in 1861
