PIONEER BURLINGAME FAMILY


 
1.  ASAHEL BURLINGAME (son of ELEAZOR & RHODA (BRIGGS) BURLINGAME) was
born 3 July 1771 in Cranston, Providence County, RI.  Asa was the son 
of a Lieutenant  of the Revolutionary War, Eleazor.  He moved with his 
parents from Cranston to Richmond, and later he met and md. Barbara BRIGGS, 
a 2nd or 3rd cousin.  From 1793- 1798 they were in the Kent Co, RI area.  
In 1800 they moved to Norway, Herkimer, NY to the Mohawk River Valley.  
1820-1833 they resided in Fairfield, Herkimer, NY near Salisbury Center, 
where their daughter Lucinda met and married her husband Simeon BROWN.  
In 1834 they moved to Pillar Point the Burlingames and the Brown families. 
Some of her family had arrived in 1822-1833.   Asa had a 55 acre farm with 
sheep, cattle & hogs on Pillar Point.  Asa was a Methodist.  He died 
8 February 1862 at Pillar Point.  They are both buried at Sherwin Bay Cemetery.

He married 24 October 1793 in W. Greenwich, Kent, RI
                                                  
BARBARA BRIGGS, who was born 30 September 1776 in W Greenwich, Kent County, RI.
She died 25 June 1852 at Pillar Point, and was buried in Sherwin Bay Cemetery.
