1.  PETER G. LOW (son of GIDEON C. LOW & RACHEL SAMMONS) was
born 1750 in Kingston, NY.  The original spelling of this family name was Louw.
Some where along the line it got Americanized to Low and in my family tree it
was changed to Lowe.  He served in 1782 as a patriot (Revolutionary soldier) of
Ulster County.  He settled in Jefferson County in 1826  with his son Gideon and
is buried in Depauville.

2.  GIDEON LOW (son of GIDEON & CATRINA (HESS) LOW) was born May
8, 1779 in New Paltz, Ulster County, NY.  GIDEON changed the name from
Low to Lowe.  He spent his early life in the Town of Denmark, Lewis County,
NY.  Later he became a pioneer settler of Depauville, NY.
      
He married 

POLLY GOUDIERE who was born April 2, 1782 in Middletown, NJ and died
September 2, 1867.
