March 28, 2016, 7:00 p.m. at the Newport Baptist Church, 7497 Main Street (Rt. 28), Newport, NY.
     The program will be "Antique Post Cards" Local collector and postcard enthusiast Nancy Chrisino will provide an interesting progam involving a unique aspect of area history, the local Post Card. Many post cards have become extremely collectable because they provide glimpses of our past that are otherwise unknown.

May 23, 2016, 7:00 pm at the Norway Community Center, 3114 Military Road, Norway, NY 13416.
      Author and Publisher Martin Podskoch will present a very informative program detailing the activities and lasting impact of the Civilian Conservation Corps on our area and the Adirondack region. Much of what we take for granted is due to this depression inspired organization.

July 25, 2016, Annual “Dish to Pass” Picnic at 6:00 p.m. at the Old Russia School, Military Road (County Route 113) at the intersection of Church Road, Town of Russia.
     Please join us for our annual potluck picnic at 6:00 p.m. Bring a dish to share, your table service, and lawn chairs. At 7:00 p.m. Local property owner Betty Kelly and local stone mason Greg Zbytniewski will provide an interesting view of roles stone fences have played and still do have in the landscape of upstate New York.

August 4, 2016, 10:00 A.M. Frisbie House and Covered Bridge, 109 State Rte 29A, Salisbury Center, NY 13454.
      We will begin the day with a guided tour of the Frisbie House in Salisbury where we will learn the significance of this historic landmark as well as some of the influences the family had on the area. Following the tour we will have lunch at nearby Arthur’s. Weather permitting we will return to the Salisbury covered bridge for an ice cream social.

September 26, 2016, 7:00 p.m. Salisbury Grange Hall, 2550 NY 29, Salisbury Center, NY 13329.
     What role did the Patrons of Husbandry play in the development of the United States? This uniquely American and rural organization helped to create society as we know it, both locally and nationally. KVHS president Wayne Getman will provide an overview of the national impact as well as some local insights.

November 28, 2016, 7:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, 7497 Main St. in Newport.
      Regional historian, Peter Hemmerich, will provide an extremely well researched and informative view of one of the most noted recluses of the Adirondack region including Adirondack French Louie. Peter’s presentations have been well attended and highly praised.

December 2016. Christmas Bake Sale -- Canceled.
      The Christmas bake sale will not be held this year.

KVHS Board Meetings
     KVHS Board Meetings are currently being held on the third Monday of January, February, March, May, July, September, and November at the Newport Historical Center, 7435 Main Street, Newport, NY. Meetings have been held at 2 pm but time may vary depending on circumstances. (directions). All KVHS members are welcome to attend board meetings. Please call or email the president to confirm the time and that the meeting will be held if you are coming a long distance or the weather is problematic.
