March 27, 2017, 7:00 p.m. at the Middleville Methodist Church, 694 Rt. 29, Middleville, NY.
      Our speaker will be Angela Harris, retired from HCCC and contributing author for the recently published two volume set of books about local women. She will provide us with details and background concerning the women who are included in Women Belong in History Books. Women who appear in the book include Grace Paul, Mary Quackenbush, Ellen Clapsaddle, Carlotta the lady aeuronaut, and many others.

May 22, 2017, 7:00 pm at the Masonic Lodge, 7408 South Main Street, Newport, NY 13416.
      People have been taking photographs of houses, businesses, and nature in the Kuyahoora Valley since the mid-19th century. Many of those old photos have been digitized and are now more avaialable for viewing than ever before. Presenters will be Willard Stave and Neil Farber, the hosts of Kuyahoora Valley Past and Present on FaceBook.

July 24, 2017, Annual “Dish to Pass” Picnic at 6:00 p.m. at the Fairfield Community Center, 1218 Hardscrabble Road, Fairfield, NY.
     Please join us for our annual potluck picnic at 6:00 p.m. Bring a dish to share, your table service, and lawn chairs. At 7:00 p.m. Cady Johnson, member of a multi-generational logging family, will share some local logging history with numerous anecdotes and pictures.

August Field Trip. Date and time to be announced.
      The August “field trip” is still being developed. A local site that we're sure will be of interest to everyone in this area has been approached but out-of-area approval is required for our group to tour the facility.

September 25, 2017, 7:00 p.m. West Canada Valley School, 5447 NY 28, Newport, NY 13416.
      West Canada Valley School Musicals. Did you know if the first West Canada high school musical was performed in March 1961 at Middleville? John us at the WCV School Auditorium to find out. Mr. McCluskey, Mr. VanPatten, and Mr. Harris, key members of the long musical tradition, will share their experiences.

November 27, 2017, 7:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, 7497 Main St. in Newport.
      The Kuyahoora-Yale Connection. Mary Ann Evans, a local resident with a life-long connection with the former residents of the octagon house, has prepared an informative story that will provide interesting conversation.

December 2017. Christmas Bake Sale -- TBA.
      The decision has not been made whether to hold a bake sale this year.

KVHS Board Meetings
     KVHS Board Meetings will be held on the third Mondays of March, May, July, September, and November at the Newport Historical Center, 7435 Main Street, Newport, NY, at 7 pm. (directions). All KVHS members are welcome to attend board meetings. Please call or email the president to confirm that the meeting will be held if you are coming a long distance, especially if the weather is problematic.
