March 30, 2015, 7:00 p.m. at the West Canada Valley Central School, High School Cafeteria, 5447 NYS Rt. 28, Newport, NY.
     The program will be "Duck and Cover - The Cold War and its Effects in the Kuyahoora Valley." The main speaker will be retired Strategic Air Command Navigator Maj. Robert H. Voelcker (ret.), who was stationed at Griffis Air Force Base during "Operation Looking Glass," which kept planes with nuclear warheads in the air 24/7 for 30 years. The program will include a visit to the bomb shelter in the basement of the school.

May 18, 2015, The Kuyahoora Valley Historical Society will help the Village of Poland celebrate their quasquicentennial.
      The meeting will be held at 7:00 pm the Poland fire Station, 11 Case St, Poland, NY 13431. Our speaker will be Lori Burritt.

July 27, 2015, Annual Picnic at 6:00 p.m. at the Norway Recreation Center, 3114 Military Road, Norway, NY.
     Please join us for our annual potluck picnic at 6:00 p.m. Bring a dish to share, your table service, and lawn chairs. At 7:00 p.m. there will be a special guest speaker, David Wittner, professor of history and director of the Utica College Center for Historical Research. The Center is creating a digital archive of the people of the Mohawk Valley using diaries, letters, photographs, deeds, military papers and artifacts such as paintings, tools or clothing.

August 6, 2015, Adirondack Scenic Railroad Trip.
      Round trip from Utica costs $37.50 for seniors, $39.50 regular price and $29.50 for children under 12. Departure is at 9:30 a.m. from Utica, arriving in Thendara at 11:45 a.m. and departing again at 4:45 p.m. There is a bus that will provide transportation to and from Old Forge but it is NOT handicapped accessible. Participants also have the option of boarding in Remsen where the train makes a flag stop after leaving Utica. Tickets are $26.00 for seniors who are meeting the train in Remsen. Payment is due to Wayne Getman by July 31.

September 28, 2015, 7:00 p.m. Masonic Lodge, 7408 Main St, Newport, NY 13416.
     Wayne Getman will be doing a presentation on the Hinkley Resevoir. If you have pre-construction photos, we would love to see them. Please bring them to the meeting.

November 30, 2015, 7:00 p.m. in Newport. Attendees should meet at 7:00 at the First Baptist Church, 7497 Main St, Newport, NY 13416.
      There will be a short presentation in the downstairs meeting room at the First Baptist Church followed by a tour of the historic Coyle House.

December 11, 2015. Christmas Bake Sale at M&T Bank, Bridge Street in Newport
     The bake sale is usually held during banking hours from 9:00a.m. until all of the holiday goodies have gone to someone's home for the holidays. Members make and sell cookies, pies, cupcakes, candy and baklava to benefit the Kuyahoora Valley Historical Society's projects.

KVHS Board Meetings
     KVHS Board Meetings are usually held in January, February, March, May, July, September, and November at the Newport History Center, 7435 Main Street, Newport, NY. Date and time will be available by the program meeting preceeding each board meeting or call (315) 845-8434. (directions). All KVHS members are welcome to attend board meetings. Please call or email to confirm the time and that the meeting will be held (especially in the winter months).
