March 31, 2014, 7:00 p.m. at the Newport Baptist Church, 7497 Main Street, Newport, NY.
     The guest speaker, Manfred Klutschkowski, will talk about his early life living in Germany and when and why he ended up in the United States. A sign up sheet for the August field trip will be available at this meeting.

May 19, 2013, 7:00 p.m. At the Newport Masonic Temple, 7408 Main Street, Newport, NY.
      The guest speaker, Barbara Linsley, will talk about 100 years of fashion from 1850 to 1950. Barbara will explain how history has affected what people wore during those 100 years through her display of examples of clothing from that era. A sign up sheet for the August field trip will be available at this meeting.

July 28, 2014, Annual Picnic at 6:00 p.m. at the Fairfield Community Hall, 1218 Hardscrabble Road, Fairfield, NY.
     Please join us for our annual covered dish picnic at 6:00 p.m. Bring a dish to share, your table service, and lawn chairs. At 7:00 p.m. our guest speakers will talk about local churches that have been renovated into private homes. Our guest speakers will be the current owners of former churches who will talk about the challenges they faced turning church buildings into homes.

August 5, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. at the Hardscrabble Wind Mill Project in Fairfield.
     Terry Stanley, Plant Manager, will take us on a tour of the facility. A sign-up sheet for this field trip will be available at the March and May meetings.

September 29, 2014, 7:00 p.m. at the Russian Union Church, 5089 Military Road, Poland, NY
     Our guest speaker will be Doris Miga, a retired Utica College Sociology Professor, who will speak about the great diversity among the various Amish groups, their values, customs, and beliefs.

November 24, 2014, 7:00 p.m. at the Town of Russia Municipal Building, 8916 N. Main Street, Poland, NY
      Barb Curran and volunteers from the Newport History Center have prepared a presentation about Newport's industrial past and the large number of local people who were employed in the Borden's plant and by the factory, mill, and tannery that used to be located on Bridge Street in Newport.

December 12, 2014. Christmas Cookie Sale at M&T Bank, Bridge Street in Newport
     The bake sale is usually held from 9:00a.m. until all of the holiday cookies have gone to someone's home for the holidays. Members bake and sell Christmas cookies by the pound to benefit the Kuyahoora Valley Historical Society's projects.

KVHS Board Meetings
     KVHS Board Meetings are held on the third Thursday of January, February, March, May, July, September, and November at 7 PM at the Newport History Center, 7435 Main Street, Newport, NY (directions). All KVHS members are welcome to attend.
