Peterboro Hotel

The Peterboro Hotel where my aunt and mother were born (1922 and 1923, respectively.) Their parents, Ray G. and Anna M. (Hoyt) Hollingsworth, were the proprietors at the time. I've been searching for a picture of the hotel for nearly two years and - thanks to the Town of Smithfield Historian (Donna Burdick) - finally obtained one. Prior to that the "closest" I'd been to a picture of the building were two photos of relatives which showed only the front steps/porch.
The barn in the background to the right of the hotel was the Summit Garage, also operated by my grandfather. The building to the left is the meat market which belonged to Burr Campbell. Donna kindly provided a brief history of the hotels which existed in Peterboro and will be providing a summary of her research at some point in the future.  A short time after my grandparent's ceased to operate the hotel it was destroyed in a fire (Nov. 1933) that also destroyed the meat market and the house immediately to the right of it. Apparantly it was the second largest fire in Peterboro's history, the worst being in 1901.
