CANASTOTA - Arthur B. Francis Jr., 80, of 3797 Seneca Turnpike, died Tuesday,
Jan. 4, 2000, at the Oneida Healthcare Center, following a brief illness.
He was born on May 19, 1919, in Syracuse, the son of Arthur B., Sr., and
Helen Condon Francis.
Arthur spent his early years in Syracuse and was a 1937 graduate of North
Syracuse High School. He later graduated from Powelson Business Institute in
Syracuse.. He had lived in Canastota since 1961.
Mr. Francis had worked as a car salesman for Sal's Auto Center in Canastota.
Prior to that he had worked at A.F. Ryan & Sons, Oneida, for 20 years. He had
also sold Christmas trees at his home for 25 years.
Arthur first married Vivian Sickles in 1942. He later married Kathleen Logan
on Aug. 7, 1958, in Berea, Ky. Kathleen died on Dec. 14, 1994.
He was of the Catholic faith.
Surviving are three sons and one daughter-in-law, Lt. Timothy and Marcelle
Francis of Kapolei, Hawaii, John A. Francis of Oneida and Matthew J. Francis
of Rome; three daughters and one son-in-law, Sandra and William Zimmer of
Central Square, Patricia M. Burdick of Syracuse and Marianne Francis of
Oneida Castle; II grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces
and nephews. Arthur was predeceased by a brother, James Francis, and a
sister, Mary Bullard.
