Arthur J. Luke
(February 22, 1892 - 1974)

  SHERRILL -- Arthur J. Luke, 82, of 423 W. Hamilton Ave., died this morning after a long illness. 
  Born February 22, 1892 in S. Granby, he was the son of Alonzo and Margaret McCarthy Luke. He was 
educated in Baldwinsville schools. He married the former Orletta Stebbins at St. Patrick's Church, 
Oneida, on Oct. 11, 1919. 
  During World War I Mr. Luke served with the Army Air Force in Franco. He was employed in the 
engineering department of Oneida Ltd. for 43 years, retiring in 1959. 
  He was a member of St. Helena's Church and its Holy Narne Society, a past president of the Fort Stanwix
Council, Boy Scouts of America, a past president of the Sherrill Auto Club, and a director of the local 
Civil Defense unit for many years. He was a past commander of the Sherrill Post 230, American Legion, a 
director of the Sherrill AAA, and a former director of the Sherrill Community Chest. He was a member of 
the Oneida Ltd. Pensioners Club, the Silver City Club, Oneida Elks Lodge 767, and the Red Cross. 
  Besides his wife he is survived by a son, Brian Luke of Syracuse, a daughter, Mrs. Charles (JoAnn) 
Doris, Sherrill; two brothers, Phillip Fulton, and Gerald Luke, Rochester; two sisters, Mrs. George 
(Helen) Johnson, Hemet, Calif., and Mrs. Georgia (Norma) Osmond, Baldwinsville; five grandchildren; 
several nieces and nephews.
