CANASTOTA - Bernard J. "Bun" Fisher, 94, of 8278 Route 13, died Saturday, 
Jan. 1, 2000, at the Oneida Healthcare Center following a brief illness. 
He was born on June 15, 1905, in Canastota, the son of Alphonso and Julia 
Bemet Fisher. 
Bernard had lived in the Canastota area all his life, attending the Canastota
schools. He had been a lifetime partner in Fisher Farms, Canastota. 
Bernard had been a Canastota School Board member for 16 years, a member of 
the Canastota Rotary Club, from which he received the Roses for the Living 
Award in 1986, and a Paul Harris Fellowship. He was a member of the Canastota
Civic Club from which he received an award in 1993. He was a member of the 
New York State and the National Holstein Association, the former Dairymen's 
League and was a lifetime member of the Oneida Elk's Lodge No. 767. Mr. 
Fisher had received the Distinguished Service Award for Business from the 
Canastota Chamber of Commerce. 
He had been a member of St. Mary's Church, Verona Beach. 
Bernard married Mary Ella dark on June 30, 1926, in Canastota. Ella died on 
Jan. 22, 1982. 
Surviving are three sons and daughters-m-law, William and Regina Fisher of 
Chester, Va, Joseph and Sue Fisher of Canastota and Edmund and Barbara Fisher 
of Houston; one daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Carlton Bigelow of 
Canastota, with whom he had resided for the last year; one brother, Robert 
Fisher of Canastota; 18 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and several 
nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a grandson, Fred Fisher; a great-
granddaughter, Beth Willis; one brother and sister-in-law, Albert and Nellie 
Fisher, and a sister and brother-in-law, Lucina and Edward Wimmer.
