Bertha Pirk

  Bertha Pirk, 94, formerly of 137 Pleasant St., Utica, died Wednesday 
evening, Nov. 24, 1999 in the Oneida Healthcare Center Extended Care Facility
where she had been a resident since Jan. 13, 1992. 
  Mrs. Pirk was born on Dec. 15, 1904, in Schenectady. 
  Mrs. Pirk had been a resident of Utica from 1933 to 1992. 
  She was a graduate of Schenectady High School and the Albany State Teachers
Collage. She was a private tutor in Secondary Science and Math in Utica and 
New Hartford for many years. 
  She married Gustav William Pirk in February of 1928 in Schenctady. Mr.Pirk 
died on Dec. 27, 1991. 
  Mrs. Pirk was a former member of the Westminister Presbyterian Church in 
Utica. She was a member of the American Association of University Women. 
  Surviving are three daughters and two sons-in-law, Janeth and Dr. 
Chancellor H. Whiting Jr. of Oneida, Nancy Friedman of Utica and Patricia and
Dr. Richard Bennett of Tampa Fla., five grandchildren and their spouses, 
Debra and Victor Sirchia of Oneida, Chancellor "Chip" and Cynthia Whiting of 
Sherrill, Patricia and Joseph Graziano of Utica, Richard and Amy Potter of 
Glastonbury, Conn., Melissa and Robert Shelmitt Jr of Palm  Harbor, Fla.; two
great-grandchildren, David Chancellor Whiting and Katie Potter and several 
nieces and nephews.
