Charles F. Forbes

Obituary from Oneida Dispatch September 1, 1894 

 Death of Charles F. Forbes- The friends of Charles F. Forbes, who resided 
near Glenwood Cemetery, were surprised early yesterday morning to hear of his 
sudden death, which took place there after an illness so short that some of 
his relatives were not a aware of it. Mr. Forbes was the son of George Forbes 
and was born near Oneida nearly 47 years ago. His whole life was spent in this 
immediate vicinity. His wife, a Miss Trowbridge, survives him with three young 
children. His father survives him and his step-mother; also two sisters; Mrs. 
George Wentz and Mrs. Henry Bishop, both residents of the Town of Lenox. The 
funeral will occur Monday at 2 PM.

 Notes: Cause of death on the death certificate was Erysipelas (Acute disease 
of skin, Saint Anthony's Fire (from its burning heat or perhaps, because Saint 
Anthony was supposed to cure it miraculously) Miss Trowbridge was the daughter 
of Seth Trowbridge and Martha Perry.  After Seth died, Martha married George 
Forbes (see below) December 24, 1860 in Oneida Castle.
