Dorothy Berry, 82, of English Avenue, died early Tuesday morning, Aug. 31,
1999 at St. Francis Hospital, Topeka, Kan.
She was born Aug. 18, 1917 in Garrison, N.Y., the daughter of Thomas and
Elizabeth Broderick Shilston.
She married Henry R. Berry on Aug. 28, 1955 in Poolville, N.Y. Mr. Berry
died on March 26, 1996.
Mrs. Berry received her RN degree at St. Luke's Hospital, New York City in
1938 and worked there for several years.
After moving to the Hamilton area, Mrs. Berry worked for the Colgate
University Infirmary in Hamilton, from 1952 until her retirement in 1957.
Mrs. Berry was a communicant of St. Mary's Church, Hamilton and a member
of the Altar and Rosary Society. She was a past member and past president of
the Hamilton Central School Board and a 10 year member and past president of
the Madison County Board of Cooperative Educational Services (B.O.C.E.S.)
Mrs. Berry had also done volunteer work for the American Red Cross blood
drives at Colgate University and in the Hamilton area.
Surviving are three sons, David Sim of Topeka, Kan., Kim R. Berry of
Mohnton, Pa. and Brian Berry of Mt. Tremper, N.Y.; one daughter, Joan Berry
of New Windsor, N.Y.; four grandchildren; one great-grandson; and several
nieces and nephews.
