  Mrs. Emerson 
 
  Mrs. Edna J. Emerson, 81, died early Saturday morning at the home of her 
daughter, Mrs. Frank Jacquemard in South Burlington, Vt. She was the widow 
of George Emerson. 
  Born in Smithfield, March 8, 1880, she was the daughter of Clarence and 
Margaret DeWitt Battey. She was a member of the First Methodist Church of 
Oneonta and a 50-year member of Mayflower Chapter of OES of Morrisville. 
  Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Jacquemard and Mrs. Mary E. Gorley of 
Putnam Valley; one son, William N. Morris of Putnam Vally 10 grandchildren; 
11 great-grandchildren; also two brothers, J.C. Battey of Oneida and Herbert 
Battey of Morrisville; three sisters, Mrs. William Yearly of Morrisville; 
Mrs. Mabel Johnson of Eaton and Mrs. Pearl Case of Sheds, and several nieces 
and nephews. 
  Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the Charles D. Barker 
Funeral Home with the Eev. Eobert S. Carpenter pastor of the Methodist 
Church of Morrisville officiating. Burial will be held in Morrisville 
Cemetery in the spring. 
  Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today.
